000The Green Room was Minnie’s guest room, always ready for relatives from Wilmington who would come up for weekends to enjoy Minnie’s rich country cooking. (Minnie was a butter cook before Julia Child or Paula Deen! It tasted wonderful, but of course it would eventually kill you!) Grandmother also took boarders in this room. When the Highway Department built the first concrete bridge over our Washington Creek, the building engineer, Mr. Sparks, moved into the green room for the duration of the construction and often brought his wife down for a few days. The Green room is furnished with the master bedroom furniture of Cousin Dick and Cousin Cora Harrell who lived across Washington Creek on their own piece of Harrell land, now taken by the I-40 right-of-way. The Cousin Cora four-poster is a double bed, ideal for a single, a businessman, or a very cozy couple! The new bathroom features an old fashioned one-person soaking tub.
