At my Christmas home tour, the last time my readers saw my main living room space, it looked like this:After the last couple months of change, here’s what my living room looks like today:As you can see, the elephant in the room is our brown La-Z-Boy recliner sofa. curtains and blinds sandhurstI’m not oblivious to the fact this couch is not visually attractive. curtains and blinds mudgeeMy husband has been wanting a really comfortable couch for a long time. elmet curtainsThis is right up his alley; it has memory foam seats and reclines back all the way and my goodness is it relaxing.Honestly, I’m still not sold. I did my best to modernize the big ugly thing (like adding that HUGE abstract painting to detract from it) but for now I’m just going to live with it.

Speaking of that huge abstract painting, I moved our family painting into the play room downstairs and replaced it with this DIY canvas (tutorial on how to create something like this soon). The painting I created with acrylics, wall paint, and water soluble inks.The end tables I picked up secondhand from a Facebook garage sale site. I’m getting as addicted to these as I am to Craigslist.On the other side of the living room, you’ll see my signature teal coffee table and this gorgeous mid-century inspired modern gray sofa. I was over having matching sofas. I wanted a more mismatched, eclectic vibe in my living room makeover.That coffee table was the inspiration for everything in this room. Its bright hue really is the focal point of the space!For spring decor, I added in various greenery throughout the space. This gorgeous plant pot on my coffee table as well as the mugs are pottery made by my sister Anne. Visit her artist’s website to see more of her work–you will be amazed!You might have already saw the modern DIY plant hanger I made to hang in the corner.

You can create this macrame hanger with just string, it’s super easy.The other things here I sourced from IKEA. The white curtains were 98″ LENDA white curtains on sale two panels for only $20! I bought two sets. The large majesty palm I bought for $12 and split in two so I also have one in my entryway. I potted the palm in a plastic garbage can I bought for $2. It’s safe to say I had a successful IKEA trip to shop for my living room makeover!I hung my pallet wood sign that reads “BElieve THEre is GOOD in the world” on the wall for the first time instead of leaning against something. I love this sign being a constant reminder to me and think its home on the wall between our living and dining rooms is the perfect spot!As you can see, I moved our “buffet” dresser underneath the TV to replace the old barn window table. I’m sad to say my sister accidentally broke the glass panes of the table and we had to move it into the garage until it’s fixed. I guess what do you expect from 100 year old glass?
