I am finally doing a post on my jute rug review… Well, since then we have acquired 4+ more jute rugs for our homes & I think that says a lot, but I wanted to do a full review for you guys & share my thoughts on these rugs that you see all over our blog & social media.
Have any more questions after this post? Leave them in the comments below & I will edit the post with the answers later. I hope this helps some of you guys if you have been wanting to buy one or if you were just super curious about these beautiful babies.These things are awesome in high traffic areas. After a few years of having them, they look good as new. They almost just absorb  dirt and stains & don’t show any ware or tear. We have dogs, kids, lots of people, furniture moving, eating food, spills, pet accidents, & more all over this rug & you would never know. These rugs are good for an active home with kids, pets, & high traffic areas. – Easy to clean! I vacuum these suckers a few times a week because I just love vacuuming & everything just sucks up right off of them. When there is a spill or a pet accident, a little water and a rag gets everything right up. These rugs seem to just hide everything from hair, dirt, spots, & more & when you want to clean it up the vacuum just picks everything up.
Seriously the most low maintenance rugs ever.I just love the look of these rugs. I mean, they are my style down to every last fiber. They are cozy, warm, & add a lot of texture to my neutral style. They always look clean & never show any aging. The rugs go with that cozy cottage vibe that I dig & so I’m all about them. You can also get jute rugs in different colors/patterns as well, I just stick with the classic, but you can really get one to fit any space!you would think I was sponsored by them, but I’m not.. I just love their prices [they always have sales & free shipping]. They are super affordable rugs which allows you to get bigger sizes for your spaces.  I usually go for the Maui Chunky Loop rug from Rugs USA because I love the look of the weave & the ties on the ends. I have also bought smaller jute rugs from Pottery Barn, Marshalls, & World Market & love them as well. Jute rugs can be an inexpensive way to add a big impact to a space while adding lots of texture & that cozy factor you are looking for.
True jute rugs like ours are a mixture of firm/soft/foot massager. lowes paisley curtainSounds weird, but it’s not. pvc strip curtains in puneWhen you walk on them they are a mix of softness & like someone is massaging your feet.. target burnout curtainsis there anything better? jcpenney roman shades clearanceI love the added texture and softness these rugs add to our rooms & yet that they are firm & nice to walk on. pink lined curtains argosBuying rugs can be like goldilocks and the three bears sometimes, finding the perfect amount of softness to fit you & your family. hookless shower curtain clear
I also love how flat these rugs are that again makes them so easy to clean & keep clean. target threshold lattice curtainsYou can also get a jute fiber mixture like jute & chenille that is much softer. I don’t have experience with anything but 100% jute so I can’t help you there, but do your research. The shedding: Ok, the ONE thing about these rugs that I’m a little iffy about is the shedding. The Rugs USA jute rugs do shed little fibers [not a ton] & they ‘fall out’ under the rug which when you lift the rug to clean it looks like dirt, but it’s just little fibers and they are easy to clean up. Most of the fibers stay under our rug & can easily be cleaned up, but some fibers shed onto our floor which wouldn’t be as noticeable if we didn’t have super dark wood floors in our entire house [I NEVER noticed it in our other homes with lighter floors & carpet]. But seriously the pros outweigh the cons for me, I mean if you have another rug then stains show up on them, or they wear down easily, aren’t easy to clean, & more.
You have to outweigh the pros and the cons for your home & your family. The smell: I wasn’t even going to mention this one because it quickly goes away, but the natural fibers have a scent to them that’s pretty strong at first. It’s almost like burlap/natural dirt. It’s noticeable at first when you first roll it out, but quickly goes away. This happens with any natural fiber rug, because it’s natural, so again, I don’t see it as an issue because I love the rugs so much. I hope this review helps a tiny bit if you had any questions or were wondering what I thought of them. I had this weird urge to suddenly change out the rug in my living room. I really love the rug that's currently in there, it's just that it looks gross. From far away, it's beautiful, but up close.... That's a ugh and an ick together :) Plus, it really high pile. being the key word here. Since this area gets a ton of traffic, that high pile has been smashed down as low as it can go. And so of course, all the dog hair and crumbs gets even harder to clean up since that gets smashed down there too. Plus, I've been wanting a larger rug for this area anyway. So the search began. Well, the search for the first rug. There's a second rug to go. I've been wanting a rug for my bedroom too. So, I've been on a crazy high search for large very inexpensive rugs. I tried to stay under $150 for my budget. So, most of these rugs are around that number, some even cheaper. But, some rugs are just too beautiful and it may be worth spending a little more :) So, here's what my search came down to. All of these rugs are currently (as of today) listed under $250, most of them under $200.
I do have 6 of these rugs in my current possession right now, and have seen another so I'll let you know what I think of them too :) I'll try to link to pictures or post pictures, but the posted pictures are going to be very non-professional.. Also, just a note, on the rugs I haven't seen, I can't account for quality. And a lot of these rugs are indoor/outdoor so they are little more friendly when you have pets and kids but probably not as soft :) I have this rug in a 5x7 in my front room. If I had known it came in a 7x10 online, I would have bought it :) I love this rug. The color is pretty true, maybe a little bit lighter. It is a thinner rug. There's not much traffic in that room, so I can't account for how it holds up in high traffic areas, but so far, it's been the perfect rug for the space :)I have seen this rug in store and I think it's one of those rugs that if you see from afar, it's beautiful like in the picture. But if you get down and look at it, the fibers are a little more separated than I would wish;
it's more of a shag rug style - a little higher pile but not much. If you go to the website and zoom in, you can kind of tell what I'm talking about. This rug has been on my list to replace my current living room rug, I just don't know if I want another high pile rug :) But at least the fibers are different, so that's helpful.This is an awesome jute rug. Not soft at all, so keep that in mind. I actually have this rug under my dining room table right now, I liked it so much I thought about getting a second one for the living room. This would be the rug to get if you don't have children and pets laying around on it all time :) Although, the babe crawls under the table on this thing constantly, so it doesn't seem like she really minds.It's the smallest rug here but I can't get over the color and pattern. It is a low or might even be no pile rug also and would probably never match my house either. But sometimes, I really like yellow and really like the idea of putting yellow in my house.
The best part is that this 'yellow' is really a deep hue so it's not too overpowering. I can't tell you how much I love Safavieh rugs. I own one right now (rug #6) and love it. It's medium/pile and super soft. This was actually the rug I was going to get for my bedroom when I found rug #6 instead. I'm still thinking this might be a contender for the living room. I own this rug and love it. As I said before, it's super soft. I haven't had it for very long, so I can't account for the wear and tear. It's true to color, and I might say looks better in person.You see more of the cream than the brown in person. Here's the picture of what it looks like in my bedroom. I can't attest for this rug at all, but I really like the design :)It comes it 4 colors: Aqua, Grey, Navy and Mustard. I think if I wanted to take my living room to a more modern feel, this would be the rug to do it. Chevron is going out and my feel is that Herringbone will stay for awhile. This is a cotton woven rug, so it's has no pile.
And yes, this is a Walmart rug. I bought this rug twice, and it the shipment was cancelled twice. So I bought it again and it finally shipped. The color is not the true color at all. But, it's not a bad color either. This color looks like a grayish beige but in reality it is very beige. More brownish goldish beige. Not quite the color I was looking for my living room (which I bought it for), but it looks great in my bedroom. Which was a big mistake, cuz now I have to figure out which one I like more, this rug or rug #6. This rug also comes in 4 different colors. It is low pile and super soft :)currently on sale...at Walmart...again :) I bought this rug when rug #9 kept getting cancelled on me. I bought it in the beige color which is almost true to color, maybe it's a little lighter than what shows online. But, the design on this rug was way to large. Way way to large....at least for me. When I put it under my sofa and ottoman, you could barely make out the design. And it made me feel like it was in a furniture store for some weird reason.
Not for me, but it was probably the beige that threw it off. This slate color is beautiful. It has comes in 4 different colors. This is also low pile and super soft, softer than rug #9.Also, another rug I bought while rug #9 got cancelled. I may have been obsessive but I was really wanting a rug lol. This rug is actually quite pretty, and doesn't seem at all as the pictures makes it look. You have to imagine this rug on an 8x10 scale. It's the perfect amount of pattern...and doesn't look dizzy or blurry either like the pictures shows :) It's the same quality as the two rugs above. The color beige is once again not like the color shown and little more goldish. This comes in two colors, beige and the slate above.I just love the vertical chevron pattern on this, and the grey of course. It's a no pile woven rug, so perfect for indoor and outdoor.And if the other style of chevron tickles your fancy, then go for the Comes in grey and blue.I love how casual it isI love the pattern on this rug.
