second hand curtains tauranga

PowerSmart are warming families in more ways than one this winter with their sponsorship of the re-launch of Curtain Bank Tauranga at their new premises today. Curtain Bank is recycling used curtains and providing them to families who may not be able to afford them. PowerSmart’s funding and a number of dedicated volunteers have made the revival of this valuable community service possible. PowerSmart’s relationship with the founders of the Social Ecology, who are the driving force behind the re-launch of Curtain Bank, began last year when they were searching for new premises to run Curtain Bank. PowerSmart provided support and sponsorship to ensure a smooth re-location and the continuation of this great service. Supporting Curtain Bank aligns with PowerSmart’s philosophy of giving “power to the people”. Not only do thermal curtains provide an easy means of keeping the heat in and the cold out, but they also lead to less energy consumption, reducing your power bill.
Less obvious but no less important are the benefits of privacy and a sense of well-being in a home that has curtains. “Energy efficiency is a passion for PowerSmart so supporting Curtain Bank was a no-brainer. We share their vision of warmer, drier, healthier homes for all New Zealanders and we are excited that Curtain Bank has a practical and effective way of making this vision a reality”, says PowerSmart Managing Director, Mike Bassett-Smith. Curtain Bank Tauranga are now located at The Hillier Centre, 31 Gloucester Road, Mount Maunganui and are welcoming donations and inquires for curtains. A good curtain and track system will keep the warmth in and could be as good as double glazing to keep you warm.
Curtains should preferably be lined and generously fitting to be effective. If you cannot afford effective curtains, you can get free, recycled curtains through our Curtain Bank. The Curtain Bank collects donated curtains from the public and adjusts, lines and gives them away for free to low income households. Since the earthquakes a lot of good curtains have been donated to us from residential homes, rest homes and commercial premises which are being demolished. Curtain retailers also regularly donate end of lines to us.A Community Services Card is not required to receive recycled curtains. Homeowners, tenants in private rentals as well as CCC and Housing New Zealand tenants, can get free curtains. If you cannot afford effective curtains, print out a curtain measurement form or contact us and we will send you one. Measure up your windows as indicated on the form and then contact us to make an appointment. Bring your curtain measurement form with you to your appointment. Please note the curtain bank is available on an appointment only basis.
