Do yourself a favor and slither on over to Little Augury for my choice of blog post of the week. One of my last projects was a nursery. The owner already knew what she wanted, so it was just a matter of finding the items and achieving her vision. It started me thinking about the modern baby room. I work with many young couples who do not have the discretionary income or desire for a room like this... Where do you go from there? Then there is the "we have so much money that we can afford lifetime therapy for our moon shocked child." You don't have to spend a fortune on a nursery. The key elements may already be in your home, ready for re-purposing. Or , you can invest in pieces with the future in mind. You can make a big statement in a small or unusual space with a few handmade pom-poms or a couple of family treasures. I like a gender neutral space. It "ages up" better, and allows you the option of pulling more furniture and decor from other parts of your home, saving you money for more important baby items down the road...
Don't forget...the revered Italian fashion house, Missoni, is releasing their fashion and home collection for Target tomorrow. Available in stores and online from September 13th thru October 22nd, the prices range from $3 to $600. My personal "must have"... This picture could have been taken in the mid 80's, and I would have probably dismissed it at the time. But since my "Long Hot Summer" post, and this picture of a Miles Redd kitchen, I've been re-evaluating my feelings toward the color of navy blue. I might be developing a crush... I love the way that navy can look vintage AND modern at the same time. You can "preppy" it... It might just be my new favorite bathroom color. It's a neutral, without being too neutral. It can be just as bold as any other color. It has a masculine side... ...and a feminine side... Navy Blue... about as classic as you can get...Excited to see the recent Art & Yoga Birthday Party featured on . Guests arrived and were greeted with Izze sparkling soda and a pink striped paper straw from The Sugar Diva before participating in a mini yoga session.
After yoga the children ate their lunch out of Pottery Barn bento boxes with sandwiches cut like butterflies and fruit in the shape of flowers provided by Christafaro’s Catering. An Ice Cream Bar from Sloan’s and “Painter’s Cake Pops” and “Paintbrush Pretzels” by The Sugar Monkey were for dessert. After lunch the children had a mini art class and each painter received a polka dot smock at their station with an easel, canvas and palette. Décor by VM Flowers included the hanging hearts and ribbons, table centerpiece of assorted jelly beans in mini apothecary jars, and her name spelled on potted paper flowers. Invitations and signage were from Front Porch Studio. Guests received a “Guess Whoo” custom invite with a vintage owl inspired theme. When guests arrived, they were greeted with mason jars of Pink Lemonade and pink spiral striped paper straws with an “It’s a Girl” flag by The Sugar Diva. The table décor included vintage bottles, owl statues and pink peonies in mason jars atop a burlap linen and pink napkins with twine and a hang tag that was a pattern from the invite.
A baby photo of each girl was at their placesetting and the menu card was a pink version of the invitation. The dessert was in a tiered tray from Pottery Barn with owl cake pops by Southern Belle’s Cakery and cupcakes by The Sugar Monkey. The girls who guessed it was a girl received an owl change purse with pink lip gloss. Other décor included “It’s A Girl” custom banner by PartyStarters, owl candles from Pier 1 Imports, vintage paper Baby Girl Blocks by Camafatis Crafts Front Porch Studio.curtains removed from 2ac Cake vintage table & home designer paper placements, available at Pioneer Linens, are perfect for showers, dinner parties, dessert parties and weddings. intersect grommet-top curtain panelThey are also great to teach children table settings or just easy, fun and decorative throw away placemats.oxendales curtains
