I tried using it with my 54"x84" curtains and it just doesn't sit right. The blackout pair bunches up together and makes my curtain look lumpy and awkward. I will be returning them. Instead I will be purchasing 54" Roc-ion blackout thermal liner fabric from Joann Fabric and Crafts and hanging them up with curtain clips; it's cheaper too (must use coupon or buy it when on sale).

My fiancé had been frustrated for awhile about how there was a major glare on our TV because the curtains I bought didn't block the sunlight enough. I found many others out there similar to these, but they were so much more expensive--typically $18 for ONE liner instead of two. These, however, were affordable and arrived faster than expected. I attached them to the curtains--quick and easy. (The way you attach them reminds me of a safety pin, and since that's the extent of my DIY abilities, I was relieved.) Our curtains are the grommet-style curtains, and you can't even tell from the top. Just FYI, the liners are less wide than the curtains themselves, so a little sunlight is noticeable on the sides, but that's not a big deal. One of the liners I ordered was a tad longer than advertised, making it longer than one of the curtain panels. I may have pinned it too low--I don't know--but it's behind the couch, so you can't see it. Our curtains are 84" long, and I was concerned when I originally ordered the liners at 80" long because I kept thinking that they would be way too short and that it would look awkward.

You can toss that concern out the window (pun totally intended) since the liners are pinned below the curtain rod holes in the curtains, so it's just right. I personally didn't need them since the glare on the TV didn't bother me, but since my fiancé is much happier now when he's watching TV, I'm a happy customer. Unfortunately, this product spells like plastic and after being washed twice and left to air dry for several days it just won't come out. It isn't something I could use in our room. I wouldn't recommend it. really does the job, but is kind of small it was just panels not the colored curtain as shown it picture. Totally do the job of blacking out light! Would have liked to know how hooks are used. They do not work for me but pins do. I felt confident purchasing these 60" liners because their length is shorter than the length of my curtain panels. However, given the way these liners have to be applied with the enclosed hook system, they end up protruding below the bottom of my curtains.

The problem is this: you cannot apply these liners flush with the tops of your curtains. They'll always rest 1 to 2 inches below the top because the metal hooks, which you pierce into your curtains, have such a low hang. So, once you rope the liner loops onto the hooks, the top of the liner rests 1 to 2 inches below the top of your curtains, regardless of the fact that you've pierced the hooks onto the tip-top edge of the curtains... not unlike a shower rod, with the shower curtain hooked up and resting well below the rod. So, one's curtains should be several inches longer than these liners. Mine are technically about 62" long, yet these 60" liners hang below their bottom edge, even with the hooks pierced up as high on my curtain panels as humanly possible. If I could stitch these liners flush with the tops of my curtains, my problem would be solved. But I don't possess such skills and I had hoped to use the provided system to make these work. Otherwise, these liners are great.

They apply rather easily and they do keep the light out. I just have to figure out some cosmetic solution to keep them hanging around (pardon the pun). I bought these to get a good night's sleep because my next door neighbor keeps all their lights on at my bedroom side of house at night. They definitely block out the light, but the supports on the panels that you use to attach the hooks to broke immediately. I ended up using duct tape to tape them to the window trim above the window. I'll go back and use a staple gun to attach it to the trim but this wouldn't be acceptable if I wanted to open the curtains. Since the house next door is 10 feet away I don't open them. But this is something to consider if that is your intent. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the light coming in between the panels but they have updated them to include Velcro so you can attach them together. I am looking forward to my first good night sleep in a long time tonight! This material is truly able to block light and cold air.
