Excellent location however rooms are really small, bathroom was really small too.. bed was comfy but the pillows was so hard.. kept waking up with neck ache. Yes there is noise from the bars and clubs but that didn't bother us as that is what we come for GM_HotelIBC, Guest Relations Manager at Hotel ibis Birmingham Centre New Street, responded to this review Thanks for leaving your thoughts here. The team and I are glad that you enjoyed your stay, and we’ve taken note of your comments. Rest assured we will address them. « Stylish, convenient location...rooms overpriced. » This hotel was perfectly situated next to China town and the gay village. Central to loads of shops. The reception was stylish and tastefully decorated. Had to wait a while to check in as was only one person on reception. Nonetheless, the receptionist was friendly. The room wasn't very spacious and the bathroom was extremely tiny. The room smelt of smoke also. I have stayed at other places for similar money and the quality has been superior.

I’m very grateful that you could take time to leave us your thoughts and write a review. I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, and we hope to see you again in the very near future.
eclipse thermaback curtains smell « Great location and excellent service » We were up for the Indoor Cricket World Cup and were running a bit late. If you're not familiar with light artist Chris Bracey, then you most certainly will be with his art – huge, intricate, neon works, often with cultural references, made from salvaged signage and lighting. A born-and-bred E17er, Chris has lived in Walthamstow his whole life and is where you'll find his studio God's Own Junkyard. His work, however, has travelled much farther: his last pop up in Soho was a favourite UJ haunt for a dose of day-glo, he has a cult following in LA, he's been featured in high fashion publications and, most recently, he's worked with Professor Green ("one of the nicest geezers", according to him) and Alice Temperley. He also has a show with Christian Furr at 45 Park Lane (now on), plus an exhibition in LA, Moscow, Singapore and India this year and next, as well as plans for a Christmas pop up in London. In other words, he's quite literally lighting up the world! Read on for Chris' Ultimate G&T picks. • FRI For the Love of Mic • SAT Luna Rossa

Snack on the best of British seafood – including Scottish lobster cocktails, Loch Fyne rock oysters, dressed Devon crab and caviar with buckwheat blinis – washed down with some decent rosés (go for the ones from Provence). Then back to work… or not. We love us a hip hop battle and when it involves Lil' Kim and Azealia Banks, sign us up! Celebrating the two biggest divas in the rap 'hood, Concrete's third installation of For the Love of Mic will have you jumping around in your Reeboks.

There'll also be Lil' Kim and Azealia Banks masks, a hip hop photo booth with a range of props and (keep breathing) a Twitter request hour – #212 all 'round. We say secure a spot on a beach lounger, and grab one from the Tiki Bar. Soho Beach House Miami, Soho Beach House 4385 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33140 Notting Hill's neighbourhood Italian eatery Luna Rossa reopens this week after a refurbishment. Their pièce de resistance? A conveyor belt, à la sushi restaurants of yore, but with sfizi (small plates of Southern Italian nibbles such as octopus carpacio and Sicilian caponata) instead of sushi. If you can't get a pew at the conveyor counter (there are only 20 seats), go for the main menu, which includes Neapolitan pizzas served by the metre and grilled goods, including scallops and Italian sausages.

From rooftops to pop ups and even hot tubs, London's movie scene is more than just your typical multiplex. And now here to float your boat (sorry) comes The Floating Cinema. Built out of cargoes and placed atop a traditional, industrial canal barge, the float is ready to set sail through the canals and waterways of East London for some extraordinary cinema-going. The boat launches this weekend as part of the Open East Festival, which celebrates the Olympics' one year anniversary. Jump on board to see film shorts programmed by the Barbican and Create London. 190-192 Kensington Park Road, W11 2ES Queen Elizabeth Park, E20 2ST CHRIS' ULTIMATE SUMMER EVENT Art at 45 Park Lane If you're in need of a neon fix immediately, head to Chris Bracey's current exhibition with fellow Brit artist Christian Furr, the portrait painter, at 45 Park Lane (who host intimate, temporary exhibitions each month). Together they explore the “Dark Art of Electric Miasma” and “Staying Alive” through neon and found objects, taking inspiration from Einstein, Edison and Essex.

Head to Peckham's stylish South London Gallery for some performance art, courtesy of Berlin-based Japanese dancer/artist Junko Wada, who has worked with some of the world's leading composers, and artists/composers Miki Yui and Rie Nakajima. The piece has its origins in earlier collaborations between the three and the late German sound pioneer Rolf Julius. We know, we know, cinema and sunshine don't equate, but we'll do anything to get a bit of air-con. Frances Ha is one for the indie-film clan. You could mistake it for a Woody Allen piece – romantic, black and white, a neurotic, eponymous character – but in fact, it's the work of Noah Baumbach of The Squid and the Whale fame. The story follows 27-year-old, forever flat-hopping, "aspiring" dancer Frances and her quarter-life-crisis. It will no doubt draw comparisons to Girls, but it's very much Woody Allen's Manhattan in the 21st century.

65-67 Peckham Road, SE5 8UH Curzon Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Avenue, CHRIS' ULTIMATE G&T SOUNDTRACK Chris Bracey likes to drink his G&Ts with a relaxing dinner. His choice of soundtrack? 60s, golden-era rock 'n' roll – think The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath – with a hint of 70s and 80s creeping through – Depeche Mode, The Stone Roses and The Clash.
