Created in collaboration with the residents of Launceston’s retirement communities, VILLAGE takes you past the manicured lawns and behind the lace curtains to discover what life in a retirement village is really like. VILLAGE is the sequel to HOME (Next Wave Festival, 2014) and part of a trilogy of works that explore ageing in contemporary Australia. This audio installation tells very personal stories about downsizing, the fear of being burdensome and new beginnings in old age with humour and fierce optimism. ** If you are blind or have a vision impairment an audio-described version of this work can be provided upon request.
