Welcome to my new blog segment, "Stouries". Thanks for being here. I'm at the halfway point now, so I wanted to take a moment to write to you about some tour-related things and thoughts. Consider it a recap, or something of the sort. Well anyway, here it goes. Things kicked off with a bang last week in Charleston. I left our tiny house in the mountains at 6am and and drove like the wind to make into town with enough time to get the work done for my real job (btw, I have one of those now... real estate software design, nerd stuff yada yada) and then rushed over to Pepper Plantation in Mt. Pleasant to surprise the daughter of a 70's rockstar and her husband to be, by playing "Whatever You Need" (a track off my last album) at their wedding. While the bride and groom were taking photos in the reception hall, I hid in the bathroom with my neat whiskey and gave half-smirks to not-in-the-know guests as they entered to relieve themselves. I was on standby waiting for a text signal to let me know they'd left the area.

Once they were out of sight, my new friend David Higgins helped me with a sound check and did his best to hide me from the bride and groom outside on the porch, so that I wouldn't have to be the creep with a drink smiling at people in the bathroom. Soon enough, it was time for the first dance and I was invited on stage to sing while they swayed. They were indeed surprised and quite ecstatic. It was a surreal experience for me. For so long now, I've struggled with music and wether or not to keep doing it. Seeing how much this song and my being there mattered to these lovely people was more than enough of a sign to keep going. Thank you ever so much and many congrats, Cam and Heather. I'll certainly never forget you. David and Mark, official wedding Secret Service Truth be told, traveling to Charleston hadn't excited me lately. Maybe it's the fault of the endless construction and ever-growing population, but my hometown just wasn't feeling like home anymore, until this trip. I caught up with old friends, made new ones, laughed, cried, ate good food, and felt like myself again for the first time in a long while.

My last moments in town were spent on the corner bar stool of the Eclectic Cafe and Vinyl. It was rainy and cold outside, but as I sipped my hot peach tea, in between sporadic chats with pals, I stared out the window and felt a warm peace about this place that was previously causing mostly anxiety. I was finally able to see over the cranes, through the construction fences and past the sea of strangers to find the place I'd had my first kiss, played my first show and fell in love for the last time.

New Single, Album Release Update, Etc.Please forgive me for the long absence. The past few months have been some of the busiest months of my life. My wife and I have moved to the quaint town of Waynesville, NC and are embracing the tiny house movement. We've scaled back from our 1800 square ft. home on 36 acres in Chapel Hill to a 430 square ft. cottage half way up a mountain about 20 minutes west of Asheville.

Consequence of Sound Premieres New Single, "Pasadena"Refresh Records released the first single from the upcoming album and the kind folks over at Consequence of Sound gave it a fantastic premier. They had some great things to say about the song and the rest of the album:Gentle, sincere, and built with a strong hook, the track sees him imagining a hopeful future together with his loved one. “Can we buy a little place in Pasadena?/ Some space to pass the time,” he sings. “What’s it gonna take, my ballerina?/ I’ll be yours if you’ll be mine.”More at Consequence of Sound ⟶Refresh Records Announces Official Album Release DateJune 24! I've spent the majority of my life in Charleston, South Carolina. During my time there, I longed for a music scene just like the one it has now. Everyone seems to be on the same team, regardless of genre, age, or experience. It's just one creative person, supporting another. At the helm of this family-style community, sits a couple of extremely talented gentlemen; Dan McCurry (of Hearts and Plugs) and Wolfgang Zimmerman (of Brave Baby).A few weeks back, I had the privilege of recording the debut Young Mister album with Wolf in the storage unit he's developed into quite the little studio, and the experience was something special.

It was like a revolving door of fantastic players/people, some old friends, some new. Some of them were called in specifically, while others just popped in to say hello and ended up leaving their musical stamp on the record. That kind of relaxed, raw environment does wonders for the creative process and I think you'll hear that in the performances on the album. Maybe there's something in the water, but it sure seems like something magic is happening in my old home town, and it makes me miss it something fierce. Big ups to Wolfgang Zimmerman, Dan McCurry, Christian Chidester, Mannie Schumpert, Ben Jacobs, Andrew Walker, Clay White, Mick Matricciano and especially this guy (Jules DeAngelis) for showing up every day to keep the vibe alive and also driving me to the train station.Welcome to my new and improved Young Mister webquarters. We hope to serve you better this time. This new adventure of mine is off to a great start and I'm very excited to share my new sounds with you all very soon.
