absolute zero velvet blackout home theater curtain panels

I am a very sensitive sleeper, mostly to sound. I also prefer it to be pretty quiet even during the day when I am home. After moving to my favorite neighborhood in the suburbs, I ended up next to a highway. I am not right next to the highway, but close enough where it sounds like rushing wind constantly. I tried the less expensive Eclipse curtains and even doubled up. However, it only brought it down 10 decibels. I have a very wide window-70" wide and 72" long. (Why would you put that big of a window in an apartment bedroom near a highway??) I got two panels, and even though it is wise to double up or go 2x-3x the window width (get 140" to cover it adequately) even with 100" of fabric it makes a world of difference. It is bringing the sound down at least 15 decibels. There is still some noise-like sirens and such. But the rushing of the wind i.e. cars sound is almost completely gone. I plan on getting more to put in my living room, and to put more panels in the bedroom. I would highly recommend to light sleepers or if you want to reduce noise to relax.
They look and feel very nice. Not the most 'decorative' curtain but it serves its purpose. raex curtainsUntil they come out with the device that you can stick to the window and block out sound, it does look and feel great. evans curtains lower huttIt adequately blocks light for my purpose-sound bothers me more than light anyways. cityscape grommet curtain panels The only complaint we have with the curtains is that it took a lot of work to get rid of the wrinkles. best home fashion pinstripe thermal insulated blackout curtainOther than that they look great and truly block light.curtains and blinds summertown
I'm now using this drape to totally blackout my bedroom. I've eliminated all possible light sources (including all those truly annoying little red, blue, yellow, and green LED "power" indicators), as my eyes are more than a little "light sensitive". target circo abc shower curtainWhen I sleep, I want things completely blacked out. merete curtains purpleThis drape really accomplishes that for me. I'm now getting the best sleep I've had in many years. I purchased these curtains for a room that we were converting to a TV room. The color was beautiful - rich chocolate brown. I was worried about the fabric being stiff since they weren't real velvet but they were relatively flowy - they kind of have a silky suede feel. I bought 4 panels and one of the panels was slightly longer than the rest so definitely check that if you order these.
Also you have to do some pretty good ironing to get the wrinkles out. Overall I am pleased with the curtains - they look good and do block sound and light. These curtains were great and I like them even though I had to go to 3 different stores to find enough to do my front window. They had been up about a year, I took them down and washed them. The backs completely stuck together and and ripped when I tried to pull them apart. I let the hang dry and now they are back stuck together so I have to tear the darkening stuff some more. I am very dissatisfied with them. these are definitely not "blackout" curtains - the room is about 80% darker, which is fine for me but perhaps not for someone who really needs to cut out all light. i purchased these curtains because i'd read elsewhere that they were heavier than most curtains of this type and blocked noise well. in my apartment, my bedroom window overlooks a busy road, and just beyond that, the interstate highway. so there's a lot of road noise and i needed a solution.
i bought a pair of these curtains and they are absolutely useless. there is no change whatsoever. not even a mild reduction in sound. they are much thinner and lighter than expected, too. you can buy a lot of curtains that will do the same as these - moderate darkening, no help with noise - for a fraction of the cost. this product is a terrible value and a huge disappointment. I love the look and thicker feel of these curtains. They are a stiffer suede-like curtain. I felt like the color was a little "off", we picked the 'Cafe' color which, in our lighting looked a bit taupe/gray instead of more of a golden beige color. So, I did have to return them for this reason. They were definitely blackout (and our room faces south) When we hung the panel, it hung nicely and looked neat. I would recommend this product. I ordered 3 panels, 2 of them were excellent. I have tried so many blackout curtains that were disappointing. These 2 really blocked out all light, they hung well, felt nice and I like the color.
The third one, although it looked and felt the same let in quite a bit of light. Thinking it might be the window location, I exchanged it with one of the panels on another window, but it was that panel. I am sending the panel back, and hoping that I get one of the same quality as the other 2. I was expecting a thick and heavy curtain, and it was not. There was nothing more than a velvet front. No sound stopping at all. I could not tell the difference between before and after it was installed. They are everything I hoped for. I expect they will help on energy usage this winter. Great blackout of light. I bought 6 panels, I plan on buying 6 more for my den.Absolute Zero Velvet Blackout Home Theater Curtain Panels Velvet blackout theater curtain panel from Absolute Zero helps reduce outside noise and light, and insulates your room as well Thermaback technology applied to curtain fabric helps block outside light, reduce noise and save energy Panel measures 50" wide and is sold individually
