Public tours are always FREE and meet in the front lobby InDepth: Conserving Samurai Suits with Kelly Rectenwald Discover how the Samurai suits in the Dressed to Kill: Japanese Arms and Armor exhibition were restored during this month's InDepth Gallery Talk.
Objects Conservator Kelly Rectenwald will provide an inside look into the conservation of these detailed suits, and how she made them ready for display. Touch Tour: Religions of the World Visitors who are blind or partially sighted and their families are invited to tour the museum through touch on the second Saturday of every month. Specially trained docents provide verbal descriptions and guide participants through the process of seeing art with their fingertips. Take a journey through religions of the world this month as we discover all kinds of religious art. These tours are a favorite way for the family to get to know our collections. GRAMMY® Award winning conductor Jason Harris leads Schola Cincinnati in this exploration of sacred poetry and music through composers who deftly merge the frivolity and amorousness of the madrigal and chanson with the austerity and profound spirituality of their church music. The Renaissance witnessed a flourishing of art, poetry, and music that the world had not seen before and has not experienced since. Composers living and working during this era were provided with a wealth of poetic resources from which to draw inspiration. However, one of the resources that provided a unique non-secular perspective was from one of the most exquisitely descriptive and emotionally stirring texts of the Bible: Song of Solomon, which offers both a biblical view of romantic love in the Renaissance and a fascinating study in allegory.
