(OK, maybe I see potential in too many things!! Come on this one is gorgeous!!) To make my boards fit the wall I used the Empire Contour Gauge. We picked up this tool a few years ago at Home Depot and have gotten so much use out of it. Go to their website and find who carries it locally for you. There may be other brands out there but this is what we use. (Yeah, I said it was huge!!) (did I mention it was heavy?) (OK, we searched the house for something to support this sucker, the piano bench was almost the perfect height, just add a pillow. Everyone has pillows in there tool box, right?) Tell me what you would store in there! Les was thinking he was storing his ties in there but graciously let me use all the space, what a guy!!! Thanks for stopping by!!! Saved on paint my mixing paint I already had leftover from other projects or I got it from the dump's free paint pickup and drop off program. (It's a match to Autumn Haze by Glidden) Saved money by using what I had, and reused headboard, night stands and dresser. Blue quilt is from Target, called Anna by Home Classics. I love that it is cotton and washes easily. (I have 6 kids and 1 dog!) I got it on sale at Kohl's Department store for $38.99 for a King!

Cute blue bird on table was bought new from Big Lots. Refinished second hand nesting tables with blue spray paint. Bought extra large mason jar second hand for 25 cents. Tinted them blue myself and added silk flowers bought at a second hand shop. Used mirror I already had. This mirror now holds a secret I will reveal below. The lovey green pillows across the back are from my couch, I just covered them with some clearance fabric from a home fabric store. I think the fabric was $5. The large lovely white pillows with the navy squares as well as the textured white one were free! Cast offs from my neighbor. The green striped feather pillow I bought 'as is' from DI for $2. The navy hounds-tooth pillow and tiny green pillow were fabric samples I purchased for $2 each. I folded them over, sewed them up, and stuffed them with stuffing from old pillows I had. Last but not least is the floral pillow that I made from placematts I got at the Dollar Store. This was actually my inspiration piece for the the color scheme for the whole room!! The back is made of blue striped fabric that I already had. I then used a feather pillow form from Ikea. Revamped this used clock with spray paint. Cute green bunny from DI for $1. Architectural piece I bought for $10 and added the homemade sign below it from scrap wood.

Now for the secret of my giant mirror! Go here to see how we did this!! that is from the movie Avatar. I wanted a small collage above my dresser. So I stared playing around with possible lay outs on my floor. I bought the convex mirror, the antique frame, and the corbel over the last year or so at DI. (Convex mirrors retail around $30-$70. For the oval frame above, I bought silver baby spoons from DI and attached them to some scrap booking paper and added the words 'Spooning Since 1992', our wedding year. Our older children were shocked that we would spoon. I got the idea from Pinterest, here's the original idea. Last time I showed you the ceiling medallion we put up. This is a long post! I chose 1 1/4 inch PVC because that fit the crystals I was going to use. I bought a 5 foot section for $3.61 at Lowe's. I wanted each ring to be the same thickness, so I clamped a scrap piece of wood to my saw. Then I just butted the end of the pipe up to the wood each time I cut a ring.

Let's just say my rings are all very similar in thickness!!) 5 foot tube of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe 1 crystal Christmas decoration Crystal drops snagged from a second hand shop Jewelry eye & head pins Left over window film Then someone spilled water on the shade and basically ruined it. I cut the ring off from the top of the shade. Below is a picture of the Christmas decoration I bought from Tia Pan Trading at their After Christmas clearance sale for $1 I think. Yes, I bought this a couple of Christmas' ago) Once I had the rings how I liked them, I work up a pattern of how the crystals would be. I had small drops and small octagons. As mentioned in my supply list, I also had some bigger crystal drops I had bought a few years ago at DI and I worked those in along the bottom. Your husband may feel left out with you spending so much time with white PVC rings and make his own PVC ring creation, Argh!! Once I had it all laid out how I wanted, I started to assemble it.
