DIY real wood curtain rods with a Restoration Hardware look for a fraction of the price | How many of you actually pull your curtains closed?  Of course, that may have been their original intention way back when windows didn't keep the cold out and shades
had not yet been invented, but I'm guessing that most of us use them for decoration and the much needed sound absorption of our screaming 3 year olds. After pulling them out of the package, I got out my handy dandy (fancy dancy) can of black spray paint.  I gave them a coat or two, not forgetting the little plastic covers that fill the screw holes.  After the paint was dry, I took some fine sandpaper and distressed the edges. Top one is distressed, bottom is not Next, I grabbed some turquoise paint I had laying around and rubbed it all over the wood.  I let it dry for maybe 15 seconds and then used a cloth to pull off the paint.  If you don't like the look you achieved, you can do it again and wait longer.  After my "glaze" was dry, I coated the towel bars in wax. Now it was time to hang the babies.  I wanted as much light to come in the room as possible, so I decided to hang the curtains just over the outside seam of the window.  I hung all four panels for around $19 and got a custom look too.
I guess you can't beat that with a stick.  You can see where the "glaze" stayed in the seams Creating a frame around the new TV consoleDrapes and Curtains are instrumental in adding beauty and drama to a room.  Unfortunately, drapery often comes with a hefty price tag.  Over the years I have located a few stores that usually come through for providing quality drapes and curtains at reasonable prices.  These stores are Ikea, World Market, Target, and JC Penney. Just so you know I don’t have any relationship with these stores nor am I being compensated in any way for mentioning them in this post.  I just love a good deal and these stores usually offer reasonable prices on curtains and drapes.  What do I consider a reasonable price for a curtain panel?  Personally, I’ve never spent more than $35 for one panel.  In fact I rarely spend more than $35 for a pair of panels. Below are 20+ Budget Friendly curtains and drapes for you to peruse.  Notice that some are sold as 1 panel (1 side) and some as a pair (2 sides).
Also be sure to take note of sizes once you click on the link.  I love Ikea panels because they always  come in super long sizes and usually are the best prices.  I have 3 pairs in my home and they are great quality.  Mudhut Suzanni Vine Panel– $23.99 Threshold™ Jacobean Floral Window Panel – Gray- $24.99-$34.99 Tamara Floral Curtain Panel-$34.99-$46.99  (This one not only looks good but has a great name too!):-)curtain factory outlet finchley Parrot Ornithology Curtain Panel-$34.99-$46.99anokhi curtains kolkata This would look SO cute in a Girls’ Roomjcpenney linden street curtain rod MarthaWindow™ Diamond Revel Rod-Pocket/Back-Tab Curtain Panel-$27.99curtains johnstown naas

I had to buy groceries yesterday since I put it off long as possible. When the necessities of life are gone it's time to go.
Well, right when you walk into our store the flowers are right there in your face. So of course I had to look and I saw these beautiful yellow rose sprays and had to get them. Then I started sticking them in bottles and a photo opportunity arose. Instead of sharing changes in my home and paint projects sometimes it is fun to take some pretty photos......just because. The spring bug hit me a few weeks ago when it actually began to feel like spring. Guess that was just a tease. It has been cold on and off the last few days, but I am sure it will warm up soon. I decorated the sideboard in the foyer a few weeks ago since this is the first thing you see when you enter the house. I pulled this urn out of my stash and filled it with flowers, eucalyptus and moss for a simple look.I don't normally decorate for Easter, but thought I would add just a couple things to this vignette. Then I remembered a few other things I had...... She even holds a little teddy. I'm Amy from Atta Girl Says, and I can't express what a thrill it is for me to be sharing my favorite room today on Kim's blog.
When we moved into our new home almost two years ago, I started searching the Internet for design inspiration and I discovered the amazing world of home decor blogs. Savvy Southern Style quickly became one of my favorites. It was required arm chair reading every night, and it still is. It's hard to pick a favorite room in your dream house, but today I'm sharing a tour of our master bedroom and sitting room. It truly is a retreat, and I think it's very reflective of my style. I've always had a thing for blue bedrooms. Blue is such a serene and calming color, and a bedroom decorated in various shades of blue is the perfect place to wind down after a busy day. You'll find just about every shade of blue in our bedroom -- pale powder blue, Wedgwood blue, Tiffany blue, Aubusson blue, Williamsburg blue, Duck Egg blue, Louis blue and so many more. The bedroom also includes so many things that I love, like handpainted and lovingly distressed furniture and mirrors and vintage glassware and pottery.
(I didn't paint this antique duck egg blue and cream secretary. I bought it from my friend, Kaaren at Lucketts Market. But I have painted plenty of other pieces of furniture in our house.) Our bedroom also showcases my love of mixing patterns and fabrics. I love to pair florals and geometrics and stripes together. In this room, that mix of patterns happened quite by accident. Before we'd even settled in the house, I purchased this Harbor House Pyrenees comforter and shams because I fell in love with the birds. I knew I wanted some French-style chairs for our bedroom sitting room. Initially, I had my heart set on some bergere chairs upholstered in a natural linen. Then I saw this pair of blue-and-white striped chintz French chairs at a local furniture consignment store. (They were samples from the High Point Furniture Market.) And I knew they would be perfect for our bedroom. Certainly not what I had imagined for the room, but so perfect for it. Admittedly, they are very girly, but they are also comfortable.
My husband spends a lot of time in them watching sports on TV and reading. It's nice to be married to a man who isn't intimidated by a girly French chair! Those chairs are a perfect spot to read and have a spot of tea while sitting in front of the fire. The curtains were another accidental find that inched our master bedroom closer to completion. As soon as I saw these Farrah Fretwork curtains at Target, I knew I had to have them for my home. I initially bought two panels, just to try them out. I didn't really know where I would use them -- maybe in our living room. They were too short for the tall windows in there, but as luck would have it, perfect for the bedroom. Then commenced a search of eight Target stores, all over North Carolina, to find enough panels for all the windows in our bedroom and sitting room. Boy, is that a story -- my curtain odyssey. The rest of the room is all about the details. I like to keep my favorite jewelry under glass on my nightstand.
Look, even my earrings are blue! As we've toured the bedroom, you may have noticed I have a bit of a bird obsession. They've come to roost everywhere in the bedroom. This brushed nickel table lamp has the most enchanting glass shade decorated with birds. I bought it at The Red Collection, one of my favorite local consignment stores, which is reportedly the largest consignment store in the southeast. I actually have not one, but two, bird lamps in the master bedroom. I love the hobnail glass globe and vibrant shade on this wrought iron floor lamp that came from my favorite place in the world to find antiques and vintage home decor items. And, of course, there's our bedding.Enough to make a Hitchcock movie! Thanks for coming along on my tour of my favorite room, our master bedroom and sitting room. And thank you for Kim for allowing me to share here on your blog. I hope you'll all come over to visit me at Atta Girl Says, where I share ideas to make your home brighter and your heart lighter.
Thanks, Amy for sharing your beautiful master with us. I would love a fireplace to snuggle up by. Okay y'all, I hope you will  pop on over to Amy's and look around and say hi. After you get though looking around at Amy's then you can pop over to Cedar Hill Ranch If you missed the past favorite rooms you can catch up here. Remember the story about King Midas and everything he touched turn to gold? Well, I have been using my own Midas touch to turn the glam up on these framed prints in the dining room. When I recently shared the new look of the dining room I told y'all there was another change to something in there. For those of you who remember these you are probably saying weren't these gold in the first place? Why, yes they were as you can see in this fall photo I pulled out. Thing is, it was a cheap looking gold because those frames are cheap ones from Hobby Lobby and I never really liked the factory finish on them. This time I used my guilder's paste in gold and just brushed it on.
Now they look more like aged brass that is back in style. Okay, I know you are tired of seeing the dining room. That is all the changes.....for now. Have a fabulous Easter weekend and be sure and return tomorrow for another fabulous favorite room. Wow, the calender says spring, but baby it's cold outside. I know a lot of you are covered up in the cold white stuff. None of that here, but plenty cold. Oh, spring come soon! Lots of inspiration last week and here are just a few. Kristen shared her daughters cute colorful bedroom makeover. She had me at the pink metal bed. I hope you check out the rest at Sophia's Decor. These cute chalkboard planters in the bright spring colors caught my eye. Full tutorial at Tried and True. I shared this cute front porch by Cottage at the Crossroads on facebook last week. I just love the hand painted old fashioned appeal of the bunnies and done in red instead of the pastels of Easter. Have y'all seen this floor transformation with brown craft paper.
