As she didn't have exactly what I was looking for she pointed me in the direction of Rochester's salvage in Yorkshire and what an amazing find it is. The company is run by partners Talya and Mark who have an amazing eye for industrial treasure and some great ideas for how it can be re-used. I've just been browsing for images to put together a design board for a client and have just seen the new Laura Ashley S/S 2012 catalogue on-line.

Following on from their "Far from Heaven" collection which I blogged about a few months ago, they are staying with the Art Deco theme and have brought together a new and utterly glamorous collection they are calling "Twilight Tones" The midnight blue velvet sofa is amazing and really adds impact to the room set and the mirrored furniture has been given a new twist with slices of mosaic glass which really add a period feel. I am feeling under pressure. In 7 days time our upholsterer is coming to pick up our beloved edwardian chesterfield for a facelift and I still haven't pinned down the fabric colour I want! In my heart I want a mustard velvet which would look divine against the inky dark blue wall, where it will sit. However my ever practical self is telling me to go for something more neutral like putty or grey, what to do? Any advice or suggestions would be welcome, so please leave me a comment. In my quest for the perfect sofa I have come across some beautiful shapes and shades and here are the pick of my faves.

I'll keep you updated and upload an image onto my blog of the final choice. Today is the last day for the new Home exhibition at Earls Court, London. The exhibition promises to showcase emerging trends from British & International designers and I was hoping to attend but unfortunately work (and my tax return) has kept me away. Browsing through the show preview catalogue this morning whilst having my breakfast, I was really impressed and will definitely make the effort to get there next time. As a designer and stylist, it is important to keep up to date with new products and trends and I love the seminars that are often held at these events. Here are some of my favourite products that will be exhibited and will be available on the High Street for us all in the next few weeks, providing the orders have been made! Every year Pantone predict their colour trend for the year and for 2012 they have predicted a shade they are calling Tangerine Tango. Orange is a very positive colour and positivity is something we could all do with a little of at the moment.

However, tread carefully as it is a difficult colour to work with. I have found from researching the use of orange for this post, that it works best grounded with a neutral such as grey and also with it's natural partner on the colour wheel, blue. I particularly love it when paired with dark inky blue. For me tangerine is a great accent colour, in this case, less is definitely more and the use of tangerine with cushions and on art work is perfect. I recently wrote a post about the styling of the set for Heston Blumenthal's new cookery show and the art work used in his kitchen, by Rockett St George, is a great example of the use of tangerine popping off the charcoal grey background. I love Abigail Ahern's style and the dark and sludgy hues accented with bright hits of colour, that she has become known for, so I was very excited to read that she has designed the set for Heston Blumenthal's new cookery show "How to cook like Heston" The set looks amazing and so different to the usual clinical sets we associate with cookery shows and kitchens in general.
