Interior design is something I have always loved and I like to think I'm fairly good at it! Nate and I live in a hundred year old house in Richmond's historic Museum District and we absolutely love everything about living here! We love the quirkiness of all the things one hundred years of people have done to this house. We love that not everything works the way it's supposed to. We love that we have to figure out an "Old House Hack" for virtually every project we tackle (though we realized quickly to multiply our expected time investment in said projects by at least double, if not triple!) We love the history of this home and that there have been a hundred years of lives lived in this house. We are simply a blip in the life of this home!We decided to give Baby Boy the biggest and brightest room in the house because it made the most sense! We now have the room that's connected to our 2nd story sunroom which doubles as our laundry room (so insanely convenient)! Our guest room is (and I'm not exaggerating) 60 sqft and at first we thought we'd make that the nursery, but it was going to be just too hard to fit everything in that tiny room!

When I began to think about the nursery, I knew I wanted it to be a light colored blue/green/greyish color...even before we knew it was a boy! I don't even want to admit how many paint samples I bought (hint...more than 5, less than or equal to 10 ;) ) I believe that the nursery should be able to grow easily with the baby as well as be a calming space for mom and dad...we're the ones that care for the first few years anyways!! I'm sure there will come a time when he wants a Star Wars themed room...or something..so I'm going to soak in the spa-like feel as long as I can!! The first thing I purchased was the rug and from there, built on that neutral, minimalistic feel that the rug offered. Curtains and brass curtain tie backs from Anthropologie (they have "girl" colored curtains in the same style which would've been put in a girl's nursery!) and white furniture kept the nursery bright and airy with a classy feel. I spend so much time in here, rocking in the glider, reading, writing in baby boy's journal, and sometimes just day dreaming.

I didn't completely neglect the fact that there will be a tiny human living in this room! I found these adorable bins on Amazon made by 3 Sprouts and I LOVE THEM! They are a little on the pricey side, but I couldn't not get them...especially that PEACOCK (my maiden name is Peacock)! While we were in NYC for our babymoon back in May, we went to see The Lion King, and though baby boy won't remember his first Broadway show, he has Simba to remember it by! I love that moose Wubbanub!!

I just thought they were such the perfect addition to a nursery! I can't even believe I was able to snag this green Fawn Design diaper bag! This was a limited edition color that will never be produced again and I am already in love with it!! This swaddle from Modern Burlap is definitely going to be used, but it was too perfect to not hang for a while. Nate and I struggled with infertility (read more about that here) and this verse is so perfectly fitting for our journey. He truly does make everything beauitful in its time. It's not about us, but about Him and His timing...and the timing of the start of our little family is perfect. Did you really think I could photograph the nursery without a pictures of Penny Lane?! Also, the wife of Nate's best childhood friend hand knit this blanket out of hand-dyed yarn for our baby boy! I may have cried...a lot! It's just so beautiful and soft - such an incredibly thoughtful gift! We are only ONE WEEK away from our due date and the anticipation is almost too much to handle.

I can't wait to bring our sweet baby boy home, see his face and kiss his toes. Introduce him to his big sister, Penny Lane, and start our life as a family of 3. It will be such a relief to finally be able to share his name with our friends and family too! This is one of the hardest secrets I have EVER had to keep!!
