I was having camera issues for a while, so I didnt get as many pictures as I would have liked, but I think it simple enough you'll get it with the few pictures I have. If you have ANY questions feel free to leave them in the comments sections and I'll do my best to answer them. 1- white fabric shower curtain ( got mine a walmarts for about $9.00)of light pink fabric 3 yds of medium pink fabricof dark pink fabric (You could use any colors you want! Get creative with it!) The first thing I did was cut the top part with the holes off of the bought shower curtain.
(If you wanted to, you could buy extra white fabric and make your own shower curtain "foundation" but you'll have to figure that one out. I dont think it would be hard, but its worth the $9 to me to skip all that mess! Next, I cut the white fabric in to 9in long strips and sewed them together horizontally into one loooooooog strip. When you have the ends sewn together its time to hem the bottom edge of the ruffle. Fold and press the edge 1/4 in then do fold it again and press. (Don't look at my ugly old ironing board! I'll make a new cover someday!) The next step depends on weather or not you have a handy-dandy-ruffler attachment or not. If you do simply put it on your sewing machine and ruffle the top/raw edge of the strip. (If you want you can serge or zig-zag the raw edge first.) If you don't have a ruffler then you will have to do a gathering stitch and hand-gather the ruffle. *If you and your ruffler attachment dont get along I have found a great tutorial about using your ruffler!
My ruffler and I were not friends for a long time until I found this! Here is the link to the tutorial: The Ruffler: Unruffled! Now that you have you strip ruffled you will lay it out on the curtain and see how long you need it. Cut it to length allowing some room to hem the side edges. Hem the side edges and them line it up with the raw edge of the freshly cut bought shower curtain and pin it down. You can stitch it down now or go ahead and put the top you cut off (remember right-sides together!) down, pin it, and stitch it all at once. Once its all stitched all together, take out all the pins and then fold back raw edged towards the top to the shower curtain and stitch down. Now, lay it all flat and flip ruffle up. Measure from the seam of the first ruffle down 6in. Mark it all the way across the curtain with a fabric pencil. Line the ruffle up with the shower curtain along the markings you drew and cut to length (allow room to hem) and hem raw edges. Pin the ruffle with hemmed sides down on your shower curtain along markings and stitch it down.
