Save on Select Activewear How to Adjust Tension Rods Curtains are a great way to accent the decor in every room in the house. Tension rods, also called spring rods, are curtain hardware which allow you to hang window curtains, wall curtains or shower curtains without installing curtain rod hardware on the walls. If an existing tension rod slips or if you want to change the curtain panels or add curtain rings, you may need to remove and adjust the rod before putting it back in place. Tension rods are positioned between two facing surfaces, such as the interior frame of a window or the opposing sides of a shower cubicle. Adjusting a Tension Rod: Shop Curtain Hardware ▸ Remove or shift the existing curtain. If curtain rings are holding the curtain to the tension rod, remove the curtain rings.

If the rod is very tight, ask someone to help pull it inward while you pull downward. Adjust the tension and length of the rod.

Place one hand on either side of the spot where the rods connect and twist counterclockwise to lengthen the tension rod or clockwise to shorten it. Test the tension rod.Check the tension by putting the rod back into place and repeat the process if necessary. Keep in mind that a tension rod loses pressure the more you lengthen it. This is because the spring inside is not as tightly compressed. If you find that your rod is unable to maintain tension when lengthened, you'll need a longer tension rod.

Place the curtain and curtain rings back onto the rod and arrange the curtain as necessary. If the rod cannot support the weight of the curtain at its current length, you may need a longer tension rod for this location. Some tension rods may require additional support bracing. Typically, these rods hold more weight, much like closet hangar rods. To remove them, push the tension rod upward and out of its support brace before adjusting.Actively Damped Optical Table Systems The SmartTable OTS comes with Newport's unique optical tabletop with active damping, the SmartTable ST. Together with a specially designed sturdy and versatile frame system, SmartTable OTS tables system delivers superior isolation and damping performance than all passive table systems. SmartTable OTS Series was designed specifically for advanced applications. The integrated accessories and ergonomic designs available with the SmartTable OTS Series deliver exceptional performance, flexibility and upgradability.

Intelligence Q (IQ) Active Damping Technology The core of the SmartTable is an advanced damping technology called Intelligent Damping (IQ). It effectively addresses the medium frequency resonances of optical tables by incorporating two pairs of sensor and actuator in the optical table design and use an external controller to coordinate the signal processing, enabling the fast and accurate damping response for optical tables. Each sensor-actuator pair is controlled by a separate control channel. The sensor senses the vibrations and the actuator outputs signal to compensate for the vibrations. The pre-amplifiers and band-pass filters condition the sensor output signal before feeding it to the digital controller. The digital controller implements recursive filters that compensate for the dynamic response of the shaker and correct the phase to bring the phase difference between the displacement and force close to (-π/2) in the desired frequency range. Robust and Flexible Frame Support

All SmartTable OTS optical table systems feature sturdy and multi-functional support frames that are designed to maximize utility, minimize space occupied and optimize structural rigidity. Integrated Casters for Better Mobility All SmartTable OTS models come with 4 heavy duty casters integrated with the system frames. Those casters greatly improve system mobility. SafeLock™ Mechanism Improves System Safety SmartTable OTS Series integrates exclusive SafeLock™ mounting clips, offering a safe and reliable connection of the frame to the optical tabletop. Numerous SafeLock™ secured systems have survived earthquakes throughout California and Japan. Earthquake restraints ERSW2010 Series are available as a table system accessory. Note: Optical table system needs to be customized for Newport ERS earthquake restraints. Easy Active Damping Set-up with One-Button Auto Tuning SmartTable active damping products are easy to set up and operate. Simply connect the IQ dampers with controller, and press "Auto-Tune" button on the controller, the system will automatically find the resonances of the table and set gain parameters.

Once the tuning is finished, the dampers will start working to damp vibrations on your tabletop real time. This feature also enables users to improve their table performance under different payload or payload distributions - press "Auto-Tune" when you have a major change in your set up to achieve the maximized damping performance. 24/7 Vibration Monitoring Capability The ST-300 comes with powerful and intuitive software that allows user to generate FFT plots, time response plots and save graphs or export data for further analysis. ST-300 software also provides time continuous vibration data monitoring that could be used as a system trouble shooting tool for long duration experiments. Vertically Bonded Triple Core Interface All Newport tables are vertically bonded along the height of the honeycomb core. Most other manufacturers forego this extra step because of added expense and time required to apply adhesive to each individual core member. Vertical bonding adds constrained layer damping effects into the core, while maximizing the table’s rigidity-to-weight ratio.

The trussed core design enables a triple core interface at each honeycomb cell. Whereas open core designs only have two structural members at each interface, the Newport table has three offering a 50% increase in local rigidity. The three sheets are fully bonded for the full table height producing greater stiffness. Individually Sealed Mounting Holes All of Newport's optical breadboards and tables are with individually sealed mounting holes. Those mounting holes feature 19 mm screw depth and in contrast to some of the other products in the market that has channel for a row of holes or just a polymeric film, Newport's individually sealed holes are more reliable and easier to clean. This is because we believe in the integrity of the product - especially the core. When dust and liquids go into your optical breadboard and table, it may have a long term effect on the damping performance of the product and make the product degrade over time. A good quality breadboard and table lasts long time - tens of years and more.

It's a good investment for a product with sealed mounting holes. Precision Grid of Tapped, Countersunk & Deburred Mounting Holes The 1/4-20 or M6 tapped mounting holes are countersunk and deburred. This ensures easy thread engagement while eliminating contamination problems. The mounting holes are located on a 1 in. or 25 mm grid with standard grid markings for easy and repeatable component placement. Highly Damped Side Panels Side panels for optical tables are more than just covers. They should contribute to the overall damping performance of the table. Our optical tables use highly damped composite wood as side panels to help eliminate vibrations from the side. Composite wood has a much better damping performance than steel has a high elasticity and tends to allow vibration or ringing. Materials with low elasticity such as wood tend to dampen vibration and ringing. For example, home stereo speakers are typically enclosed by composite wood to damp the acoustic vibrations.

Unique Pressure Bonding Process Ensures Superior Flatness Metrology quality steel assembly platens are used to ensure the superior flatness of our optical tables. The platen supports the top surface of the table during the assembly and bonding process and imprints the top surface with the same flatness characteristics. Our platens are the largest and flattest in the industry. We use gravity pressure bonding to apply constant pressure across the optical table during the bonding process ensuring that the top surface conforms to the platen flatness. Typical Applications with SmartTable HD Many applications can benefit from SmartTable platforms. Compared to traditional optical tables, SmartTables detect and damp vibration in real time in a broad frequency range, accurately and precisely damping multiple resonance peaks to provide a quiet platform for your application. Typical applications include:Live cell imagingPrecision nanostructure studies and fabricationHigh resolution spectroscopyApplications that involves constant load changes Long exposure holography, spectroscopy and microscopyUltrafast studies Any application that requires long term stability and sub micron precision
