We've got our wood stove kickin' today to keep you toasty warm! I had an early dinner; the waiter was very helpful--I'm allergic to dairy and gluten. I had the filet mignon which was one of the higher priced options. It was incredibly well seared but a bit more done than I'd like--still tasty. It was 1/2 off wine bottle night so I splurged on the St. Emilion. A very nice bottle--and... We went to a wine tasting at this restaurant. The food was excellent, loved the duck tenders and the shrimp scampi. Can't wait to go back to have another meal. Staff was also good. Wine was excellent since it was catered to the food. We enjoy going here for our anniversary. It is very romantic and private in the curtained booths. The food is delicious. It has never disappointed us. Some restaurants can handle holiday meals with a larger than usual number of covers. On New Years Eve, Eden did a subpar job of delivering a $90 per person fixed price dinner. Despite delicious sounding courses, every course had amazing deficits.

Why offer lobster tail with crab imperial stuffing, when the crab was dry and the lobster tough. This was my first time to Eden. It was very good. We were greeted promptly by several friendly staff. Dinner, drinks, and dessert were all good. I would recommend this place and would go again. Having extensively explored the excellent restaurant options in RB, the tempting menu drew us to re-visit Eden after more than a year, having previously had a good, but for the money only average experience. At the end of the day, this time around the food was excellent, the room pleasingly detailed, and the service knowledgeable, warm, and memorable - no... 30 of us celebrated my mother's 90th birthday with a party upstairs at Eden Nov. 5. Everything was perfect - thanks to Scott, who coordinated it for us. everyone raved about crab cakes and salads. Everyone from California, Arizona and Pittsburgh were impressed and Mom loved it. The fusion liquors he makes are out of this world. The food was made with quality product and the taste was amazing. You wont be disappointed. The atmosphere is lovely and the service on point. However the food was just so so. So it’s been a long time since I’ve posted any photos or status updates on the Fixer Upper. Life’s been busy and I lost track of what I’ve posted recently.  So I will try to take you on a journey from last spring. Here’s what the kitchen looks like.  The cupboards are in, the lighting is in.  We need to add the crown moulding to the cabinets and a few other projects lingering here. There’s our new island.  

All the countertops are concrete.  And pretty much everything from cabinets to appliances and lighting are new. See that old door in the background?  That will eventually be a sliding barn door to cover the pantry!  That one is still on the list of to-dos. Remember how we opened up the wall here and added the beam to make the space feel bigger? I apologize for my curtain shortness, I threw them up wherever there were brackets already. Here is the entry door painted a very light blue. Remember how we used an old door for the front of this island? My little coat closet. Here are the French doors that go out to the newly constructed deck.  (More pictures of that in the future.) The hallway down to the bedrooms.  The flooring goes throughout the whole upper floor.  Well minus the bathroom. Here’s the new vanity. Again, pretty much everything is new.  New tub and shower, new interior doors, new toilet! Here’s the master bedroom.

And the second bedroom. Here is where we attached a garage and added an entrance door to the garage in the main entryway. Here’s a shot of the basement.  Which is currently under construction.  We cut this door into the wall to make the basement a walkout.  You can’t believe how much more light it added to the room which makes the space feel bigger. We’ve done so much work on the outside too but I think I’ll leave it at that for today! I didn’t go all out this year.  And to be honest, most of my house has been taken over by gift bags and packages and I feel fairly drowning in Christmas. But I did snap a few photos of a few little nooks that make our house feel festive.  This year’s theme was gold and silver, neutral and blue. Fyi, every tree had a light mishap. They all kept going out long after the tree was decorated. I just gave up after awhile! Downstairs is where all my red plaid went.  And the fireplace is currently under repair, so I only took a few shots.

Here is my Christmas Eve headed to church look. I say this often, but I will say it again, if you have nice clothes in your closet waiting to be worn…what are you waiting for Christmas? Break out your finery for the holiday. Your closet shouldn’t be the only one that gets to see them. Here is the first look in this series- Here is a little red sweaterdress I have in my closet.  You may not have red, but I bet you have a sweaterdress.  I wore this dress for both volunteering during the day and to a dress down work party at night- in a snowstorm. I wore the same tall boots for both, I swapped out the plain black leggings from the day for velvet leggings for the party.  And instead of just a watch for day, I added some fun bangles for night. It was a warm and cozy look! While the styles have changed since I first started blogging, my commitment to bringing you affordable, real mom style, sharing in my parenting sagas, showing you updates on my house and in the fixer upper, and whatever crazy project idea I have next has not.  

Thank you for sticking through with me through long periods of craziness- summers and juggling a new baby with three others, beginning new writing venues, etc. I love sharing my life with you and I hope to keep my readers stylish- even from the sticks! Here’s my last fall sports look- soccer.  Soccer can be just as cold as football, maybe wet and miserable.  Or it can be absolutely perfect.  Many times once you’re on the soccer fields, you are chillier than you are normally.  Lots of layers with this look, including a team color jacket and tshirt.  The terrain is often times rough so tennies are helpful.  It could also be buggy- keep that in mind when choosing what to cover up in.  I also included a hat to keep out the sun or rain.  And don’t forget your chair! I hope you enjoyed some fall sports looks.  Just because it’s a sporting event doesn’t mean you need to look like you’re one of the players!  Wear something a little out of the “school spirit” box!
