Borromean islands, Isola Bella, italy, Lago Maggiore, Lake Maggiore, Milan, Photography, Stresa, travel Often when I think about a village or town I have visited in Italy, I think, that one is my favourite. I have come realise that I have so many favourites. How does one really pick a favourite when Italy is full of the most amazing and beautiful places? The last time I was in Italy I returned to a very beautiful town, Stresa. I had visited Stresa several years earlier and promised myself then that one day I would return. Stresa is situated on Italy’s second largest lake, Lago Maggiore, which has 11 islands, the most famous being the Borromean Islands which includes the very unique Isola Bella. Stresa is an easy train trip from Milan. Its main train station is well positioned close to most hotels and not far from the lake. It is just a short taxi ride, however it is also an easy walk.

While we were there, we took the train into Milan just for the day starting off with a short walk from our hotel. When we left Stresa, we took the luxury comfortable shuttle coach directly to the international airport in Milan. We had 8 magic days in Stresa, staying at La Fontana hotel which is right by the lake with stunning views towards the islands. Each day, and often twice a day, we walked in to the township of Stresa. Walking along the lakefront promenade is a perfect way to start any day and a delightful way to end a day. Come for a walk with me along the promenade. Here are some of the many sights you will see. Many of these stunningly grand hotels were built in the early 1900’s. While staying in Stresa, we took the local public ferry boat to many of the other towns on the lake plus we visited 3 of the Borromean Islands . Such a pleasant way to travel. Each town we visited was only a short distance. It is so very easy to get around in Stresa. The roads are wide making driving a breeze and there is plenty of parking which is also available in the hotels.

Of course if you are up to it, just put on those walking shoes and take in the exquisite beauty of Stresa on Lago Maggiore. You will not be disappointed.Reindeer JpgReindeer ImagesReindeer CaribouReindeer SleighReindeer StuffReindeer LaplandReindeer CutenessChristmas VisitAbout ChristmasForwardThe reindeer, also known as the caribou in North America, is a species of deer native to Arctic and Subarctic regions. A perfect example is Blank, an online purveyor of blank packaging and project supplies, which stocks a smorgasboard of plain gift tags, wrap, cards, boxes and bags. The absence of colour and decoration encourages you to create your own personalised touch which is a whole lot of fun and makes for a far more special gift. One of the cutest projects I have seen created with blank supplies is the egg couple (pictured below) by crafty legend, illustrator and designer Rachael Smith of Penelope & Pip. How could you not love such a dashing eggy couple! I hope to profile more of Rachael's talents soon, so stay tuned. An egg-cellent creation by Rachael Smith of Penelope & Pip ceramic artist and Udessi founder kim wallace Udessi which supports and showcases an array of work by Australian creatives. For Kim who grew up in Holland, a back backing holiday to Australia more than a decade ago was a life changing experience, as not only did she meet and fall in love with her husband, she was also seduced by the beauty of the Australian landscape and the work of local artisans and knew she'd found a new home.

We're very happy she decided to stay! Do yourself a favour and devote some time browsing through Kim's beautiful website. How would you describe yourself? What led you down your current path? Woo hoo, West Elm has recently opened in Australia and the good news is... if you can't make it to their store in Bondi alongside Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma, you can still shop to your heart's content as they ship everything, anywhere in Australia. A little too tempting, perhaps. I've already started filling my online cart with the first three below. The bird rockers seem very Eames. I love shopping online, even if you don't proceed to the checkout, you can always dream - West Elm. I rediscovered Karina's work on Instagram, where her thoughtfully composed vignettes leapt off the screen. Clearly inspired by the fine details within nature, an assortment of her children's toys and colour, it's always a pleasure seeing what she'll come up with next. I imagine Karina's home and garden is filled with a treasure trove of unique pieces and tiny fragments just waiting to be captured in a creative composition. With countless projects on the go, from jewellery design for her label Karina Jean to visual art, Karina's creativity spans many mediums, all of them inspiring.

I am thrilled to share an interview with Karina and some of her favourite Instagram shots, but for a real treat head to her Creative Showcase here. Karina Jean is my jewellery label. currently working on a new range and working on some commissioned designs. also writing and illustrating two children’s books. And on a daily basis, I make creative images, which usually end up on Instagram. You’ve amassed an incredible following on instagram how would you describe your photography style?
