I am a little torn on it. From the very beginning it wasn't the exact look I wanted. Once we got it into our kitchen though I have to say I really enjoyed it - it was so easy unloading dishes right onto it and was lots of fun styling the top seasonally. However, it did cramp our kitchen a little more than I wanted to admit and I think practically speaking the sideboard I made fits better in our kitchen makes the kitchen feel a good bit larger in real life (I know it's hard to get a feel for that in photos).

For the year we used it I did like it and probably would have recommended it. It started getting wobbly though right before we moved it out. I tightened up the screws a bit and that probably would have fixed it. And the little side rails started falling out if it got bumped. Basically, for the price I would say I liked it. And up until quite recently I would have said that I would recommend it. Once it started getting a little wobbly though that makes me a bit unsure if I would recommend it or not. I think I probably still would. But I would have someone stronger tighten all the screws. We did an IKEA hack on this. You can read about the whole process here. Would I recommend them? We used these at our old house in the kitchen and bathroom and now one is in the girl's playroom and I just added the other one to Jason's kitchen (I should have updated photos soon!) And that's it for all the main things I can think of. I also have quite a few little accessories like the pitcher shown below which I use all the time, little white lace vases, and gray dishes.

I have been very happy with all of my smaller purchases and haven't had any issue with any of them. We also have the Ritva curtain panels in most of the rooms of our home and for the price have been very happy with them. Eventually I wouldn't mind switching them out for nicer ones but for now I really can't beat the $24.99 price! Well, I think that's just about everything! Please keep in mind these are just my experiences with each item. I am sure there are plenty of people who have had completely different experiences or opinions on different items. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! If you are new here you can find a full before and after tour of our home here in this post with details and links to paint colors and source lists for all of our items: And you can also look under the for more info on our home and for more details and source info and paint colors onAs part of our continuing quest to experiment with every possible fabrication technology, we recently came across an opportunity to try fabric printing services while outfitting our new office with curtains.

Roller blinds are a nice alternative to curtains with their simple appearance. However, most roller blinds are rather boring. You can have custom fabric printed at places like Spoonflower with whatever you want on them to replace the boring standard fabrics. (Perhaps the best use of custom printed fabric is the Tetris dress.) TrueUp has a great comparison of fabric printing services. If you prefer low tech fabric printing techniques, check out the round up at The Long Thread.

The bottom weight is extruded aluminum, which is a little different from the usual method of hiding a rod in a fold of fabric at the bottom. One of the plastic end caps will need to be worked off. The plastic seems to have been hammered in, and will need to be pulled straight off. Robogrips are good for this. There is a plastic insert to keep the fabric in the weight rod. It is just stapled onto the fabric, so it is very simple to remove. The fabric is attached to the roller with adhesive, and can be peeled off.

We hemmed the sides with fusible tape to give it a little more stability. A heavier weight material will roll more consistently. The residue of the adhesive on the roller may hold the fabric in place well enough. If not, it can be supplemented with double sided tape, or even single sided tape if that is what is handy. Insert the plastic piece into the aluminum weight and roll up your blind evenly. It’s ready to hang! The Enje brackets are straightforward to install.
wooden curtain rods nairobi Now we can block out the night! Or the bright, as the case may be.It’s has been a long while since I worked on an extensive project like this. But I am so glad I did cos not only were the girls delighted, the husband was uber pleased. My brief from the girls was really simple. Shanice wanted something pink and Renee wanted castles and princesses. In fact, Shanice has been begging us to paint her room pink.

I have put that off for a long time as I really couldn’t find the time and energy to do such an extensive project (just imagine the paint and mess while Manny roams around) and I suspect it may be too much (and too pink), considering the many objects in the room that are already pink. To keep things simple (and to cut cost), I have contained the mess and got the room revamped with a few tricks. Now, let me show you around. Idea 01: Ruffles and Pockets for Curtains We have this pair of white curtains from IKEA when we just moved in (that was about 5 years ago). To add a little more girlie touch to the room, I’ve chopped the full length curtains to create a layered style with the excess fabric by adding ruffles to the ends. Apart from ruffles, I have also added huge pockets to the curtains to add a playful touch and to help the girls keep their desks neat. Idea 02: Buntings for low beam When we just got the keys to the house, we wanted to cover the low beams with partition wall.

But later decided we could use that little more space. We are glad we didn’t went ahead with the partition wall, look how pretty it looks with a little bunting hanging from the edges. These sweet buntings are made with the same EMMIE RAND fabric and a pink polka dots cotton. Idea 03: Washi Tape Castle Wall Art To fulfill the castle request from the girls, I’ve considered getting castle wall stickers but decided to turn to washi tape instead for something more subtle and unique. Idea 04: Malinda seat cushions for the FJELLSE Bed frame We love Malinda seat cushions, in fact we have 4 dark blue ones for our chairs in the dinning room. But with a little creativity, these comfy cushions are great for the bedroom too. Adding Malinda seat cushions to FJELLSE Bed frame. FJELLSE Bed frame, $39. Idea 05: Fabric Strips for organising accessories No more fishing in a box for their bows and hair bands, this little fabric strip added to the STUVA wardrobe have them all sorted out.
