Dave Simons was shopping for curtains when he went to relieve himself in the restrooms at the store's branch in Braehead, Glasgow. On his way out, the 33-year-old was startled by the divine image staring back at him from the wooden door. 'I spotted Jesus reminding me to do up my fly before I exited the toilet,' said Mr Simons, who works as in the film industry with props. An IKEA shopper found what he believes is the face of Jesus in the wood pattern of a door in the store's toilets He recalled how he had been round the store and was on his way to have a hot dog when he decided to go to the men's room.

There he encountered the image which he was desperate to capture. 'I went in to the toilet and there it was on the main door when I put my hand out. I said "Oh my word, it's Jesus"'I tried to subtly snap a photo because the last thing you want is to be heard taking a photo in a toilet,' he added. Mr Simons said while he believed the image resembled Jesus, his friends had less faith in his encounter He believes the outline of eyes and moustache resembles that used to commonly illustrate Jesus. However, Mr Simons admitted, others he has shown are not as convinced. 'I think it looks like Jesus but some of my friends think it looks more like one of the tree people from Lord of the Rings,' he added. Despite his divine encounter, Mr Simons left the store empty handed. 'I actually went for tiebacks for curtains but they didn't have any. 'So Jesus didn't help us there.' (Dave Simons got more than he bargained for when headed to the restroom at IKEA. Photo: Dave Simons)On his way to pick up a (very reasonably) priced hot dog, Simons made a pit stop in the men’s room, only to have a seemingly religious experience. “I went in to the toilet and there it was on the main door when I put my hand out.

I said ‘Oh my word, it’s Jesus,’” Simons recalled in an interview with The Daily Mail. “I spotted Jesus reminding me to do up my fly before I exited the toilet,” he joked. “I tried to subtly snap a photo because the last thing you want is to be heard taking a photo in a toilet.”Even Simons recognized the comparison may have been a bit of a stretch, mentioning that some of his friends likened the image more to that of a tree person from Lord of the Rings, than the face of Jesus Christ. It may not be as revelatory as da Vinci’s Last Supper, but Simon’s IKEA discovery holds its own against other internet-famous sightings, such as the frying pan, the Wal-Mart receipt, and of course the piece of toast.Just last month, the faithful in Colombia said they saw the face of Jesus in a landslide there. For Simons, his restroom stop had at least one unintended effect. After a memorable experience, Simons left the store without the IKEA product he came for!“I actually went for tiebacks for curtains but they didn’t have any.
