I called the 800 number for a replacement part. The Customer Service Representative was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Oster really does care about their customers first! After this experience, I can honestly say that I will tell all of my friends how Great Oster. I will always choose Oster when making a kitchen appliance purchase because I know that if I need to contact customer support, they are really sincere. Ordering parts is simple. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Despite discouraging e-mail from Margarita, Jarden Consumer Solutions to the contrary, I took a chance on ordering this kit. The bottom cap, sealing rings and, most importantly, the stainless steel blades FIT the 5-cup-glass-jar of my wife's Oster® Blender Model 248 Series A -- Vintage circa 1960. The top in this kit fits an 8-cup plastic jar, I think. The bearing of the old blade assembly seized up a few years ago. Been using a cheap, plastic substitute. Now, if they will only just re-stock the replacement 5-cup glass jar 014709-156-000.html The original is a bit chipped around the bottom.

Plastic bottom cap and new sealing ring fits nicely. But the original jar is etched -- looks like beach glass -- from literally 50 years in a dishwasher. Motor is still strong as an ox! Now, if I only still had my grandmother's jet-engine-looking Electrolux from the same era! I ordered a replacement kit for an old Oster Blender, but when it arrived discovered it would not fit. The billing instructions indicated that if I wanted to replace the one ordered, I should call customer service. The rep who answered was friendly and helpful. She determined that my blender was so old that there was no replacement kit available, but said she would scrounge around for an replacement seal and if she found it, would send it to me at no charge. She did, and it fit. I received a full refund (less mailing costs) for the original kit. I am a believer and will recommend this company whenever I can. If my blender dies, I will get an Oster! My Oster Classic is about 6 yrs.old. The black cup on the bottom cracked!

Hadn't been dropped or misused. So, I ordered the Reftesh Kit here. Everything fit well but the Black Lid that goes on top! Due to me believing in Oster I've placed an order for 2 more Blenders! One for us in Brushed Silver w/16 functions with the Food Processor Attachment & a Red one for our daughter! I'm sure we'll get years of use out of them! I've also ordered Oster Toaster Oven w/Convection anxiously awaiting it! I will start with saying I love my Osterizer blender . I broke the glass blender container so ordered just the container then when it came realized it was not the shape of the old one and I had to order the lid and blade kit. The quality of the plastic lid and base are poor- hard inflexible plastic. The old lid was supple and easy to wash. Think I should have just purchased a new one since the two orders cost me over $30. Several years ago I purchased and Osterizer with a glass receptacle. In moving it one day the receptacle fell from the base shattered (eeeekk!) and there I was left with the base and the lid.

I was able to replace the receptacle piece which arrived complete with its' necessary pieces (and new lid bc the the new form of the receptacle is now circular whereas the original was square. All the pieces fit perfectly with the original base, and i am once again a happy smoothie maker. Our blender is so old that the woman I spoke w/ at Oster could not find a parts list for it. The old style Osterizer lid had a small crescent-shaped stopper which I lost. The stopper is important because liquids can be thrown from the opening when the blender is operating. I was uncertain, as was the woman who took my order, that the replacement lid would fit, but it does. I love my Oster blender for its simplicity. So when it started to leak and I had to hold it in place to blend, I did so because it is a really good blender. I then went on the Oster website to look for a new blender and, lo and behold, I found the refresh kit. It fit my older blender and I now feel I have a new blender.
