Liebe GrüMehrpin 344heart 29speech 1// @TheLaurenTateMehrpin 109heart 9I racked my brain for days trying to find out what to get Nate for his first Father's Day. I finally broke down and just asked him (I know how lame but desperate times people ;) ). He said that he would like a nice picture of the Savior for our downstairs. Done and done Boo. I knew the exact picture I wanted to get. It was Christ in Red Robe by Minerva Teichert: Even though I went with what I perceived as being the most contemporary style of religious art I knew that it needed another modern twist. I had been dying to try this DIY for creating an acrylic frame and knew this would be the perfect fit for taking this piece of art over the edge! ~Artwork (I purchased mine here in 14x20) ~Clear Acrylic Sheets x2 (I purchased mine at Lowes in 18x24 if you do need a larger size they will cut them to size for you) ~An Acrylic Frame Kit in Brass or Stainless Steel (I purchased mine through Highland Hardware on etsy)

I followed this DIY to a T and it worked out great! Just make sure that your nail is large enough for your post to fit through it. I made that mistake and had to go back for a larger nail to burn through the plastic. I first bought the 8" which didn't work but the 10" was just right. Here is the finished product: I will tell you this it was a little more expensive to frame the piece of artwork in this way but I think that it adds so much more interest than a traditional frame.
whiterig curtainsWhich is something that we want with this piece of art.
lapa curtains vanderbijlparkWe wanted it to catch our eye more because of the subject matter.

the estate is owned by an avid contemporary art collector as evidenced throughout the rest of the house, click here to peruse... glossybox five has arrived with some goodness inside: avene cleanser and toner (travel size), klorane dry shampoo (travel size), thin lizzy concealer (decent size), the body shop chocomania body butter sachet and a neon pink power balance bracelet. not bad, as i love avene products and i use klorane all the time, all in all, pretty happy! these have been floating around on the internet for a while now but are new to me so they may be new to some of you too! it is the home of architect and designer david collins. FYI the purple art is a wolfgang tillmas photograph photographer: simon watson for house and garden photographer: marius w hansen i have been on a mission ever since i saw jessica stam's heavenly mint green sofa to find something similar, this one from jonathan adler fits the bill perfectly i think! when i live in a house with parquet floors and white walls (so that may be never) this is the sofa that will live there.

thanks design sponge for the heads up on this little beauty from made goods! photographs: jean-francois jassaud for l'official interieur i have been searching high and low for these photographs taken by jean-francois jassaud featured in the august 2006 instyle magazine of paul & joe designer sophie albou's paris home. yes there are only a few but if i found these, then there must be more out there on the internets! i will keep looking and if i find more you will be the first to know. i must also note that i am quite obsessed with her limited edition Fernando and Humberto Campana banquete chair. photographs: jean-francois jassaud for l'official interieur because the cool weather is creeping up on us and Merowyn asked for a 'throw post' i thought this was perfect timing to share some of my favourite blankys. clockwise from top left: jonathan adler zig zag grey throw from zinc door, country road lehria throw, nordic throw in charcoal from chipchop!, eivor black/white throw from ikea, jonathan adler nixon camel throw blanket from zinc door, organic cotton knit blanket from DWR, country road lucas throw, water colour fabric bonnie and neil, country road lais throw and what throw post would be complete without the infamous hermes avalon blanket.

peep my favourite, most cosy missoni throw bought on ebay few years ago... want some great affordable art? looky at these scarves from temps des reves, i am particularly smitten with this bondi beach one. I am seriously in love with this orchid stem i bought from portobello rose this morning as a treat. she is sitting in an old jar on my coffee table now in all her paint splatter-ly glory. i needed another orchid but as i am leaving in 2 weeks (!!!) there is not much point as it will die while i am away so this was my substitute. in other news, i had a facial today, finished some wedding chores and we are having our MC over for a salmon dinner. i hope you are all going to have a deliciously relaxing weekend like moi! okay, so maybe reading lonny is not such a good idea, especially when they showcase so much delightful product! like this mud cloth printed sofa from furbish and these cushions below, clockwise from left pink silk flame stitch pillow from furbish, rope dye pillow from mercado global and black spot cushion from furbish.

i am also rather fond of this lamp and this one plus this tray from high street market below my gorgeous (and preggos) friend hannah chipkin has launched her latest collection for her label chipchop! called nordic but nice, remember when i bragged about her before?. i am most excited about the fact that she has firmly branched out into home wares with a gorgeous throw and cushions. i think i need this throw to wrap myself up in on the couch this winter! pic: self service blog completely mystified how i missed this one! the self service magazine blog is an absolute cracker. exquisite photographs of exquisite peeps in exquisite locales. clickety click to see for yourself... awesome window display from the girls at serin cini - blue roses!!! my friends and family got together to get us the most incredible gift! remember when i talked about this tribecca bed head from bed nest? it was such a great and overwhelming gift (that's Alice and Lucy trying out new bed)
