eclipse nottingham thermal energy efficient grommet curtain panel

This is my first time purchasing curtains so have nothing to compare them to. I live alone in a little log cabin I built and first ordered for just one window. I liked it so much I ordered another set. I got the chocolate brown ones and they go with the decor of my cabin perfectly. And just like described, they ALMOST completely darken the room except for the little light that sneaks in around the edges. So based on what little I know about curtains, I believe they are an excellent value. I have been looking for a good quality blackout curtain for awhile .. One that actually works and doesn't fall apart when you wash it and doesn't let the sun "leak" through .. This is it ! Love these curtains .. Seriously they do exactly as they are intended .. My husband and I put them up in the middle of the afternoon during the brightest part of the day and it was instantly dark in the house to the point I had to turn the light on to see ! This works great for Saturday mornings when you want to sleep in but couldn't before because the sun shone through the window and woke you up ..

I would recommend to anyone needing this kind of product. In order to compare curtains directly I narrowed my options down to four (the number of panels I would need) and purchased one panel of each. I selected the four based on product description and reviews.

red eyelet curtains 46x72 Eclipse Nottingham Thermal EnergyEfficient Grommet Curtain Panel in Plum SunZero Caleb Curtain Panel in Plum Sun Zero Nolan Blackout Grommet Curtain Panel in Taupe Sun Zero Millennial Arya Room Darkening Grommet Curtain Panel in Magenta I hung all four curtains on the same window to compare them in the following qualities: Blocking Light, Ease of Opening and Closing, and Appearance. I did not wash them to remove lines and wrinkles so I am comparing them directly as they are when you take them out.

Hands down the Eclipse curtain blocked light the best followed by the Nolan curtain and the Millennial Arya curtain. The Caleb curtain blocked light very poorly. Now I like to be able to draw my curtains and open them on a whim so that I can block the light when I want to, and open the windows when I want to, so I chose only grommeted panels. The Eclipse and Caleb curtains performed very poorly in that regard as the fabric is very stiff and doesn’t respond well to being moved, and doesn’t hang well. The Nolan and Millennial curtains both draw open and closed very smoothly and they hang well in either position. For appearance, because of the way they hang the Nolan and Millenia curtains look much better than the other two. The Caleb is particularly ugly because the color has a patchy pattern. It may work well with some decor, but it isn’t a smooth color, and is not what it looks like online. The Eclipse pattern contains shiny embellishments, which could look classy if the material hung less rigidly, but as it is it looks like cheap material trying too hard.

Both the Nolan and the Millennial have smooth solid coloring and a pleasant texture. They are soft and flowy to the touch. They do have a sort of glossy-ness to them, especially the Millennial, but that may just be the specific color I chose. The color of each of them is also a shade lighter than it appears online. Overall, I recommend the Sun Zero Nolan curtains. They provide the best combination of looks and function. If you really just want to make a room dark and aren’t gonna be opening and closing your curtains twenty times a day like I do, then you should go for the Eclipse curtains, because they perform best at blocking light and look fairly good when closed. you should also buy enough panels to cover a few inches more than the area you’re trying to block so that light doesn’t escape in the cracks between the curtains. The color is actually darker then what shows on the computer and they are not flowing curtains. They are on the stiff side but they do make the room dark.

I returned them because they were too dark and not flowing. The curtains were light weight but really darkened the room. The color was great and they looked very nice. I highly recommend these. They came in a little wrinkled, but for the price and the effectiveness, these curtains are fantastic! I am an extremely light sleeper and any light shining in the room in the morning wakes me up. I just moved into a new condo and have been struggling with other curtains since my bedroom faces the sun. I purchased the burgundy in these curtains and they are fantastic in helping keep out the light! NOTE: I needed to buy two since only one panel comes in each package. Definitely worth the buy though! The holes are also really large so any curtain rod should fit though to hang them up. I couldn't be happier with my new drapes. Really are room darkening, insulated and light weight. I received them before the expected date. We wanted something for privacy on our sliding glass doors to the patio.
