Last week the Boise, Idaho Chamber of Commerce and Tourists Board met to discuss upcoming events for the next three months. They filed a joint statement indicating total agreement on those events. Plans will continue to move forward on the annual potato roll which will once again be on Capital Boulevard. This year it will start at the Boise River bridge, turning it into more of an endurance race rather than a sprint as in years past. The boards also refused to allow Red Potato entries, but will continue with Russets only. Also there will be a new testing criteria in place to make certain hybrids, genetically modified, and hormone induced potatoes don’t enter the competition.

The boards could not agree on standards for the potato rollers stating, “This competition is all about the potato and not the roller.” Board chairman Walter Skilt said at a press conference. “A roller on roids or doped blood, it makes no difference.
