Lawton Manor is a luxury care home, set in two acres of landscaped grounds in the Cheshire-Staffordshire border village of Church Lawton, with views over picturesque farmland and rolling country hills. The home offers residential, nursing, and palliative care. With the windows and conservatory opening out onto all this natural beauty – as well as the beautiful landscaped garden, tiered fountain, and large patio area – the serenity of the countryside is always at your doorstep; but the home’s courtesy vehicle ensures you’re within easy reach of all the amenities of Church Lawton. The majority of bedrooms are en-suite, and rooms are not assigned by care type. Instead, they encourage residents to choose the room that’s right for them. The home has a number of wonderful communal spaces, including two dining spaces, lounges, a conservatory, library, cinema room, and games room where they keep the popular Wii console. There is always somewhere to find peace, quiet or good conversation.

Last updated 23 June 2016 We carried out this inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. This inspection checked whether the provider was meeting the legal requirements and regulations associated with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, to look at the overall quality of the service, and to provide a rating for the service under the Care Act 2014.The inspection took place on 17 May 2016 and was unannounced. We also invited the local authority to provide us with any information they held about Lawton Manor Care Home. We used information from a Provider Information Return (PIR) which the service had returned in December 2015. This is a form that asks the provider to give some key information about the service, what the service does well and what improvements they plan to make. We used this information to help to plan our inspection. We also looked at all of the information which the Care Quality Commission already held on the provider. This included previous inspections and any information the provider had to notify us about. Furthermore, we invited the local authority to provide us with any information they held about Lawton Manor Care Home. We took any information they provided into account.As part of our inspection we spent time talking with people who were living at the home. Thirteen people and four relatives of people living at the home were able to share their views with us. We also spoke with the registered manager and regional support manager.

Additionally, we spoke with five other members of staff including one deputy manager, one senior care assistant, one care assistant, one activities coordinator and the chef. We undertook a Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI) observation during lunch time. SOFI is a specific way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us.We looked at a range of records including: five care plans; complaint and safeguarding records; maintenance and audit documents. Last updated 12:04:35 8th Feb 2017 - Update Now To view the latest inspection report compiled by the CQC please click here » Pleated Conservatory Blinds Stoke on Trent Conservatory Type: Brown UPVC conservatory, brick dwarf wall, 7m x 6.5.0m, glass roof Numerous steep and very long obtuse triangular roof blinds were required to cover this roof with individual blinds (one per pane) as preferred by Mrs D. However she wanted the obtuse blinds to be made in 1 piece of fabric with no cross support rails at the base point where the glass is obtuse.

Heat and glare were the main issues, but not severe as the conservatory faces west. Roof rollers were not possible due to the angles of the obtuse blinds and pinoleum would not suit the plastic conservatory. Only micro pleated blinds were feasible & luckily Mrs D liked the style of the blinds. She was unsure about how they would look when stacked back (see picture below), as obtuse blinds cannot retract fully to the facia, but this was a compromise worth investing in to solve the light problems. “I was concerned about all those wires & the obtuse blinds not retracting fully, but overall love the finish; the blinds have brought a nice soft light to the conservatory, where we now relax in comfort.” What our customer say about us Conservatory Blinds Stoke on Trent Love the conservatory blinds & they work really well. Everyone else tried to almost “force” those corrugated (pleated) blinds on us; we just didn’t like them. Very pretty colours & designs, but the fabric reminds me of shower curtain, so cheap & naff looking! The roof roller fabric however looks attractive and substantial and designed for a tough job – keeping harsh sunlight out. Thanks for listening, we don’t like being “sold” to, we want to “buy” what’s right for our tastes – why do so many companies not realise?
