How do I measure my window for curtains? There are 3 simple steps; 1) Before you begin, you will need: Metal measuring tape – this ensures you get the most accurate results Pen and paper – it is best to write down your measurements as you go Ideally a friend to hold the other end of the tape measure 2) Measure your track widthMeasure the full width of your track – don’t measure any decorative ends. If you don’t have a curtain track you will need to decide how wide the track should be. The track needs to pass the window on the sides you will be pulling the curtain back on – to make sure the curtains can be pulled off the window during the day. As a ballpark figure – you should add 15-20% of the window width, but this will also depend on how much space you have.
3) Measure your finished heightIf you have a curtain track which you don’t want to see when your curtain is hung, measure from the top of the track to the point where you want your curtains to finish. If you want to see the track, start measuring from under the track. If you don’t have a track yet – measure from where you wish to hang your track to where you wish your finished curtain to end – it is standard to hang your track 100mm above your window.jovanna curtains How long should my curtains be?chaps seychelles curtains We recommend your curtains finish at the floor.curtain draw rods perspexAll curtains can easily be adjusted for height by a few centimetres by moving the hooks up and down within the heading tape.shower curtain 200cm drop australia

We have probably the best range of curtain poles in Ireland and the United Kingdom. We cover all of the main product materials, diameters and finials.  This curtain pole guide is to help you choose the best pole for you and your needs.  All our Curtain Poles come with full instructions in the pack.  We carry a broader range than most retailers. Curtain pole diameters or pole thickness  – we run all of the main diameters in metal and wood curtain poles. Most retailers do not have the breadth of range we have. The higher the diameter of the curtain pole the more weight it can carry. Higher diameter curtain poles of 28mm upwards are for heavy weight curtains. The highest diameter we run is 35mm curtain pole which is usually only found as a made to measure option. Smaller diameter poles are for voiles and lightweight curtains.
The guide below will list the suitability for each pole. These are the decorative items at the end of the poles. We have around 14 different types of finial at any given time to suit all customers’ needs. Extendible curtain poles and fixed length curtain poles available  We run a large range of fixed length curtain poles that require cutting to the length required. This is easily done using a junior hacksaw or pole cutter (metal poles).  You can buy a pole/pipe cutter from us, they are very easy to use and give a clean, straight finish.    If you are unable or do not want to cut a curtain pole then we offer 4 types of extendible curtain pole. An extendible pole is listed as having 2 diameters, for example 25/28mm. This is to allow the smaller diameter pole to glide inside the larger diameter pole. The poles are joined by a small plastic “ramp” that allows the curtain eyelets or rings from the pole to slide up and down the join more easily.  It is down to personal preference as to which type of curtain pole you choose.
Fixed length curtain poles look better as they are easily cut to the exact length required and do not have the ramp or the 2 diameters of an extendible pole. Extendible curtain poles are more convenient to put up and can be used again on another window with minimal fuss. We have worked hard with our suppliers to develop the best brackets for each pole. We have increased the thickness of our brackets to be better than most of the other retailers. Thicker brackets allow for a heavier load to be placed on them without bending. Most of our brackets have also been increased in length to allow for the extra depth of material required for an eyelet curtain. An eyelet curtain requires a minimum of 8cm from the wall to the start of the pole to allow for the gather when pulled back otherwise the curtain would rest on the wall and ruin the drape. These longer brackets are available in all of our 25mm, 25/28mm, 29mm and 35mm poles. There are 2 brackets for smaller length poles, after 1.8m in length all of our poles have 3 brackets.
All of our curtain poles have curtain rings included with them. There is 1 ring for every 10cm of pole. Where an extendible pole runs to 2.1m we offer 22 rings instead of the industry standard of 21, so there are an equal number of rings on each side of the pole. All of our rings are metal (with the exception of the City Pole) with a fixed eyelet for the curtain hooks. A lot of other retailers use smaller rings with a wire bent around the ring for the curtain hook to attach to.  Breakdown of our core range: This is a small diameter extendible metal pole with plastic rings and finials.
