To achieve different looks, curtains are made in a variety of styles. These often include different fixings. The main types of curtain style are: Pencil pleat curtains - These usually have a header tape attached, which can be gathered and for which you will need small plastic or metal hooks or gathering hooks.

Sometimes the use of metal or plastic is just a personal preference, although in areas with a lot of direct sunlight, plastic rings will tend to go brittle after some time, and metal rings will last longer. Once the weight of the curtains becomes heavy (for very long, wide curtains or curtains that are lined), metal hooks are often a better choice. For sheer curtains, the lighter hooks are the best option as they are not so visible.
rotating curved shower curtain rod reviewWhat are adjustable curtain hooks? Adjustable curtain hooks are a fairly recent invention and are great if you need a small adjustment without wanting to alter your curtains. They will enable you to lower or heighten the curtains by a few centimetres which may look better or provide better window coverage. What else do I need to know about curtain hooks?Always make sure that you remove curtain hooks before washing or laundering your curtains.

Not only can they damage the curtains if not removed, they can also harm your washing machine or dryer. This is a very economical option for hanging curtains. These rings fit perfectly on 3/4" EMT conduit, which you'll find is far less expensive than any curtain rod out there and readily available at your local hardware store. Having done this once now, I think you could use the 1/2" EMT conduit instead if you wanted a little more play in the rings. The clips grip well and the rings slide easily. I got the finish I ordered, which has apparently been an issue for others but wasn't for me. I needed curtains for 6' of space (a large arched 'doorway' that leads from the kitchen to the dining room) so I ordered two packs. That was just the right number for my situation. My conduit curtain rod, conduit hangers, and these drapery rings ($2.50/pack for my finish) cost me around $10. You just can't beat it! I've purchased these curtain rings in the past and loved them! They add that little extra "WOW" factor that you're looking for in window treatments without breaking the bank.

HOWEVER, I recently purchased these same curtain rings for a larger window treatment project and the rings did not fit the curtain rod. The description for this product says that they fit rods up to 1"--my curtain rod is 1" and the inside of the rings measure right at 1". If you are to purchase these rings, make sure your rod is LESS THAN 1". This is the best drapery ring so don't waste your time or money with other ones. I used to use the clip-on ones but they ruin the fabric and don't slide across the rod as well as these. And those clip-ons also don't hold the drapery and the drape comes down off the clip. So please do yourself a favor and only use these because you'll be happy with them from the start. Only one complaint on these curtain rings. They come in a package of 10 rings. If you are hanging curtains that are 54" wide, then 10 is too many for one panel, but 5 is not enough. So you have to buy two packages, and will probably have a couple left over. Otherwise, they look great and do the job well.

They are sturdy, well made and attractive. Thank you for the great service. These rings do NOT fit a one inch rod, even though they say they will be 'compatible' with a one inch diameter rod. have been looking for some of these for quite a while. Price has been an issue as i needed 90 of them . These were on sale. The look excellent and the clip is large enough to grab sufficient material to allow moving curtains open and closed. The product info indicated this was for a 1" rod. It is 1" in diameter and therefore will not fit on a 1" rod. Could only use for 3/4" or smaller. These rings work great; they matched the "brushed nickel" curtain rod I ordered, and are sturdy enough to hold up a 40 x 84 insulated curtain panel. At 70 cents apiece, they are cheaper than any other rings I found. Well, they would fit onto a 1" rod... if they didn't have the little clasp. Then the inner diameter is 1". BUT... with the little clasp, they just don't fit a 1" rod. I have to return these and get ones made for a 1.5" rod.
