Seasonal events at Watford This is where we announce the events and activities that will be taking place in our shop. Please check this page regularly to see what we have planned. We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups. We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives. We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad. If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.
The charities we're supporting from January 2017 – March 2017 are: National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) Watford - The NAWT provides care for neglected, homeless and unwanted animals and helps them find a new home. They offer support and help to animals and owners even if they aren't in their care. Our donation will help create a dog enrichment area. This will give the dogs an area which will be more like home. The Carer Support Team (CST) Starfish Children's Ward General Hospital - CST give guidance and support to carers of children admitted to the Children's Ward. Many carers are alone in supporting their children 24-7 on the ward. The volunteers give respite and information to carers on the ward so they are better able to care for their sick child. Our donation will help fund the training of the volunteers. Sea Lion Swimming Club Watford - Watford Sea Lions Swimming Club is a local charity which makes swimming accessible for people of all ages with temporary and permanent disabilities.
Members can swim with their families every week in a friendly environment supported by trained volunteer helpers. Our donation will help fund trips out for the disabled swimmers and their families. This is how October 2016 - December 2016 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme: Watford Rape Crisis Centre - received £500 The Sick Children's Charity - received £2000 Guideposts - received £500 Would you like to help ussupport Barnardo's?
