Tidewater Inn Bed & Breakfast 949 Boston Post Road, Madison, Connecticut 06443 The Tidewater Inn is Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Why do most travelers stay at your inn? Because they’ve heard about us from their friends, family or colleagues, or because they’ve found us on the internet and liked what they saw and read. What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn? We are known for our warm welcome, our delicious and inventive breakfasts, and for how we help to plan your days. If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit? We’re a small New England seaside town, not a city, and that’s why travelers come … to be by the sea, but not in a sea of humanity … and to celebrate special occasions and to make new memories. What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

How totally refreshed, restored and relaxed guests feel after a stay with us … even after the shortest stay … as if they’ve been a world away . What’s the best kept secret about the area? Nestled halfway between New York City and Boston there are seven seaside small villages or towns in a row along CT’s center shore that I call a “string of pearls,” and Madison is the center or Heart of the CT shoreline. Quaint, like Nantucket, but without the crowds, these are gems of seaside charm with big city style. Calm and restful, but never boring. Here to be discovered by travelers curious enough to wander off the beaten path of Interstate 95. If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area? It all depends on the traveler’s interests, of course. For those who like the outdoors, several state parks and land conservation trusts in the area offer many miles of hiking trails and bicycle routes. Water lovers can enjoy the beaches, go sailing, kayaking, take a lighthouse cruise or the thimble islands cruise.

Antiqueing can keep one busy for many days. Historic sites and small gems of museums abound. Art museums and galleries as well as studios welcome visitors. Yale’s many art and history museums are nearby. An evening of live theater should not be missed, or even an outdoor concert on a town green. The charming centers of our seaside villages are perfect for an afternoon stroll, and unique boutiques and shops are perfect for treasure hunting. Is there anything within walking distance of your inn? First of all, The Beach! Madison has the best beaches in CT – Yankee Magazine even says so – and we are just a short walk away … about half a mile. The center of our quaint New England town also begins just a block away from our inn, with unique boutiques, a famous indie book store, our Historical Society, the Lee Academy (Historic site) and the Deacon John Grave House (Historic Museum). One mile away is the entrance to Hammonasset Beach State Park and the Meigs Point Nature Center, and the Shoreline Greenway Trail begins there too.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area? This part of the CT shoreline is a foodie’s heaven.
