I knew I wanted to keep it simple and affordable, but also wanted to make a space that was warm and invited Lucy to be herself. My initial inspiration was the bright ardent coral color I found at Sherwin Williams. From there, I fell in love with all the gold accent pieces out this summer. I was also really inspired by items I found on Etsy. I love finding handmade products made by fellow Mama's to incorporate! Traditional with a touch of whimsy! The first actual item I added was the gold polka dot rug, which I ended up making myself because I couldn't find anything close to what I wanted within my budget. I bought the actual rug from Home Goods and it's just a basic flat weave off-white rug. I then purchased a circle stencil from Hobby Lobby and Martha Stewart metallic craft paint from Home Depot. I just stenciled the circles onto the rug in a semi-planned pattern and that was it. Super easy and a great focal piece for $40! We actually have this identical Bassett Baby Ava Crib in white for our first daughter, and love it so much we decided to get it again in gray for Lucy.

We really like the feminine lines and soft gray color and also appreciate the price point and that the crib converts to a full bed as Lucy grows. We don't anticipate buying her another bed before she heads to college, so we wanted to ensure the one we chose would stand the test of time (and military moves!). The mobile was a splurge for me but I fell in love with Baby Jives on instagram and knew the cloud moon and stars mobile in gold leather was the perfect touch of whimsy and beauty for Lucy to gaze up at each night. I'm still so in love with it and it's one of my favorite parts of the nursery. Hard to see, but another favorite part of the nursery is the Shanna Murray decal on the wall above the light switch. It says "Be Brave" and is exactly the kind of message I want my daughter's to see every single day. The dresser was purchased from a local vendor here in Virginia that buys old furniture and refinishes it. This dresser was originally blue when I found it at Picked and Painted and had definitely seen better days, but the overall size and look was exactly what I'd envisioned, so the owner made me a deal and sold it to me for $150 including her repainting it coral.

We did have to spend about $50 on drawer slides that my super-handy hubby installed to make the drawers function after we brought the dresser home, but overall, I think $200 for a massive dresser is pretty reasonable! The gallery wall was completely inspired by other's creativity in their nurseries, as you can see if you browse my Pinterest board for this nursery. I bought all of the frames at Ikea and then just began searching prints on Etsy. I used Krylon 1000 Metallic Gold Spray paint to paint both the large square frame and the wooden Lucy letters and then left the other frames white. I'm really happy with how everything turned out and adore the pops of color and fun the art prints bring to the nursery. Between nursing Lucy, bedtime stories and just snuggle time, I knew I wanted to find a rocking chair that was comfortable, affordable and fit the room's decor. I feel like this swivel glider in Halo from Target fit the bill perfectly, and I was able to snag it for $300 while they were having a sale.

The curtains are blackout ones from Half Priced Drapes that I got on sale when they had a buy one get one free. I was tentative buying from this site, but a girlfriend of mine recommended them and I have been thrilled with the quality. The night stand and lamp are from Target (again, on clearance--yay!), and the pillow on the glider is Calvin Klein and was a score my girlfriend Molly found for me at Home Goods. Thank goodness for friends that know your color palette and keep their eyes out for you! The bunny sitting on the chair was something I fell in love with while browsing instagram. I sent the amazingly talented seamstress at Knit 3 Purl 3 Shop a little bit of my leftover fabric from the crib sheet my Mom made and she crafted this adorable bunny out of it. I have no doubt that bunny will be well loved! The beautiful bunting above the chair was a gift from a dear friend from an adorable Etsy shop called Penelope and Lala and was the perfect finishing touch. The bookshelf was given to us for free by friends that were downsizing and I just used the same Sherwin Williams paint from the dresser to give it a pop of color.

I also used this wallpaper from Lowe's on the backing of the book shelf and a gold metallic pen to create lines that tie in my gold accents.
