You may choose to discuss special ordering a shade with the Home Depot to obtain a longer length. Can the 48" wide shade be cut down to 35.5? Thank you for your questions and interest in this product. Unfortunately no, the 48" width can only be cut down to a 42" width, 3" off each side. The 48" height is grayed out for the 36" width as this product is not available in those dimensions. You do not indicate whether you are planning to mount inside or outside the casing. In this case I would advise planning on an outside mount and going with the 48" x 48", cut down to 42" width. The additional overlap will give you better light control as well.The clear piece will snap over the entire bottom rail for you to utilize to raise and lower the shade so as not to damage the fabric.
