Fed up of fashion jargon? Want to know what London Fashion Week means for you? We had our eyes peeled for the very best looks on the catwalks, front rows and on the streets at London Fashion Week. The looks you don’t need to be a supermodel or celeb to look great in! Here’s our rundown of 10 top trends coming to a street near you in Spring 2016: You’ll have spring fashion all tied up in a classic trench coat – guaranteed to look great, no matter what you’ve got on underneath. Burberry has long been the master of the smart trench, and we saw them both on the runway and on front rowers at LFW – Paloma Faith, we’re looking at you in your beige beauty! You’ll find great-value trench coats at George this season, for the ultimate investment buy that will see you through those spring showers in style. We’re still seeing lots of denim on the streets, and it seems that anything and everything goes – from classic skinnies to baggy jeans and denim culottes. There’s plenty of fraying and fringing around too, so why not get snappy with the scissors and customise an old pair?
Victoria Beckham showcased denim as part of her main collection for the first time – a sure sign that jeans are flying high in the fashion world! For the perfect pair, check out the Wonderfit range at George, which will hug you in all the right places. Yellow is back for spring, yet again! There’s just no keeping this colour down. Forget soft pastel shades though. This year it’s all about the bright buttercup and the punchy primrose, as seen at the Roksanda, Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders shows. We spied Lucy Watson from Made in Chelsea looking lovely in a yellow dress at Julien MacDonald. Last year’s springtime hero hangs on for another season – yay! We spotted Alexa Chung sporting her brand new choppy do in a super-smart inky blue jumpsuit pulled in at the waist with an oversized tie belt. Dress yours up or down for the ultimate easy-to-throw-on-and-go outfit. Not got one yet? Jump to it at George! We couldn’t help but get excited when Zandra Rhodes, Paul Smith, and even the usually understated Victoria Beckham sent models down the runway in bright rainbow colours – it means we can dig out our primary colour-pop jeans from two years ago.
We saw lots of brilliant bright outfits cheering up drizzly London too, including Millie Mackintosh looking gorgeous in green – a tribute to her other half, perhaps? Now here’s a trend that we can really get behind! The Burberry nylon backpack is set to be the sell-out item of the season, and we spotted several savvy stylistas getting in on the act early outside the shows. A backpack is great for throwing everything in for days out with the kids, and you won’t get arm ache from lugging around a giant handbag. Mono is an easy-to-wear fashion favourite for the colour-shy among us. If you like to keep things simple but stylish in black and white, you’ll be in good company this spring. Lucy Mecklenburgh was seen in a selection of mono outfits throughout fashion week, Laura Whitmore rocked a full-on monochrome trouser suit with tie, and Lily Allen teamed her black-and-white striped trouser suit with bubblegum pink hair – only for the very brave! There was yet more mono on the front row at the Burberry fashion show 2015 with Cara Delevingne in top to toe black sitting next to Kate Moss in a Dalmatian-print coat.
If you’re someone who feels cold right up until July/August then you’ll be happy to find that you don’t have to put away your favourite faux fur for spring. curtains hempstead turnpikeSo many of our favourite fashionistas went for a snugly jacket to see London Fashion Week shows. motorised curtain tracks melbourneAt Burberry, Suki Waterhouse looked super cute in a fluffy white overcoat, while Jourdan Dunn popped a soft teddy bear coat over her black-and-white outfit. target home ruched shower curtainIf full-on fur is too much for you, rock a faux fur collar instead.homebase blackout curtains The soft knit is another spring essential that never goes out of style, and we saw everything from oversized rib knits to skinny cable knits on the streets outside the shows.
Jourdan Dunn dared to pair her monochrome knit with a leather skirt, while Lucy Mecklenburgh went for cosy mohair with culottes – again, in this season’s essential black and white. The fitted white shirt will always be a wardrobe essential, but the fashion pack know that, this season, big and baggy is the way to go. This is a great trend for spring as you can wear your longline shirts or shirt dresses over skinny jeans, tights, leggings – or even with bare legs if the sun makes an appearance! Pull in your shirt with a leather belt, as seen on the Paul Smith runway, for extra fashion points. So there we have it, fashion fans – our top 10 wearable looks for spring 2016.
